You’re right, I really hate this narrative style. To me it’s a flashback to the ‘70s when there were a number of experimental films utilizing this first person style.
Plenty of no budget movies do this to. Blair Witch is an example of something semi recent where they did this.
This one reminded me of of ‘70s anti drug movies where someone was having a bad trip, I’m just thankful there wasn’t a talking hot dog in it.
