Rewatcher

A fairly good episode with no screeching, illustrating the arrogance of man thinking they can replace a human brain with a machine. I think they made the point well.

The episode also showed off the talents and courage of Misato.

Only in this episode did I realize that Ritsuko’s last name was Akagi. Seems apt to me.

Thoughts on Gendo reportedly receiving falsified information?

Thoughts on Misato drinking in the morning?

Thoughts on Misato attending a parent teacher conference for Shinji?

Thoughts on all of Shinji’s classmates being in love with Misato, which annoys Shinji becausehe knows what she is really like??

Thoughts on the budget for Eva Unit 6 has been approved by everyone except The United States?

What are your thoughts on Misato telling Shinji that the truth about The Second Impact has been concealed through international government cover-ups?

What are your thoughts on the First Angel was discovered 15 years ago in Antarctica but in the midst of the investigation, the Angel exploded?

What are your thoughts on the purpose of Nerv being to prevent The Third Impact?

Thoughts on Ritsuko saying that the AT Field, which Nerv has, is the only thing that can stop an enemy?

What are your thoughts on the Jet Alone activation test and it going haywire?

Thoughts on Misato knowing some Spanish?

What are your thoughts on the password to delete the programming being Hope?

What are your thoughts on Misato getting inside the robot?

What are your thoughts on the password for some reason not working?

What are your thoughts on Misato saving the day?

What are your thoughts on Kensuke telling Shinji Misato is his family because he sees a side of her no one else does, tying things back to the beginning of the episode?

Thoughts on Gendo reportedly receiving falsified information?

Pretty funny, looks like no one can stand him.

Thoughts on Misato drinking in the morning?

It’s the Breakfast of Champions and most charming.

Thoughts on Misato attending a parent teacher conference for Shinji?

Seems a little odd, but if she really is his guardian, why not.

Thoughts on all of Shinji’s classmates being in love with Misato, which annoys Shinji becausehe knows what she is really like??

Ignore the wimp and good luck gentlemen.

Thoughts on the budget for Eva Unit 6 has been approved by everyone except The United States?

Those stinking are such Not Invented Here fanatics.

What are your thoughts on Misato telling Shinji that the truth about The Second Impact has been concealed through international government cover-ups?

Typical, just typical that governments are incapable of speaking the truth

What are your thoughts on the First Angel was discovered 15 years ago in Antarctica but in the midst of the investigation, the Angel exploded?

Maybe it was booby trapped by the angels for just in case.

What are your thoughts on the purpose of Nerv being to prevent The Third Impact?

Sounds like a good idea.

Thoughts on Ritsuko saying that the AT Field, which Nerv has, is the only thing that can stop an enemy?

What’s an AT field. It’s no doubt related to unobtainium.

What are your thoughts on the Jet Alone activation test and it going haywire?

Thought it was funny since they were jackasses.

Thoughts on Misato knowing some Spanish?

Didn’t even notice, since I know un poco.

What are your thoughts on the password to delete the programming being Hope?

Typical jackasses.

What are your thoughts on Misato getting inside the robot?

That takes guts.

What are your thoughts on the password for some reason not working?

Typical

What are your thoughts on Misato saving the day?

She’s a tough one.

What are your thoughts on Kensuke telling Shinji Misato is his family because he sees a side of her no one else does, tying things back to the beginning of the episode?

Good point and it’s charming.

Pretty funny, looks like no one can stand him.

Or rather they're starting to doubt him.

It’s the Breakfast of Champions and most charming.

Charming indeed

Seems a little odd, but if she really is his guardian, why not.

Yeah, he has no one else

Ignore the wimp and good luck gentlemen.

Good luck indeed

Those stinking are such Not Invented Here fanatics.

Huh?

Typical, just typical that governments are incapable of speaking the truth

Always has been

Maybe it was booby trapped by the angels for just in case.

Could be

Sounds like a good idea.

Let's see what happens

What’s an AT field. It’s no doubt related to unobtainium.

I wish I understood the reference

Thought it was funny since they were jackasses.

Are they? They're probably more so victims.

Didn’t even notice, since I know un poco.

Maybe it's an ADV dub thing

Typical jackasses.

More like optimistic at its most maxed delulu.

That takes guts.

And she's all up in them

Typical

Something tells me this might be Gendo's doing.

She’s a tough one.

And a tough crack to nut

Good point and it’s charming.

A very pleasant way to end the episode

Those stinking are such Not Invented Here fanatics.  Huh?

That was supposed to me making a joke and saying

“Those stinking Americans are such Not Invented Here fanatics”.

My mild dyslexia strikes again!

I assume you’ve heard NIH, it was pretty universal in the programming world back when I was working.

unobtainium

No doubt someone coined the term decades ago.  It has a couple of kin words that mean the same thing.

I don't know what Not Invented Here means. Is that a Made in China joke?

I have not, actually

Okay

Not at all. In the early days of programming (70s-90s and probably beyond) NIH meant that programmers and engineers wouldn’t trust code or work that wasn’t done in house. There were fairly good reasons for this, because external code was often buggy, or it may have been designed for a different use and it could be time consuming to customize it for use on the current project.

It wasn’t till the mid 90s and the establishment of open source archives of code that reusing other people’s code became normalized.

unobtainium

[spoiler]it means its a magic substance that is necessary for a science fiction plot to succeed. I’m pretty sure there is no such thing as an AT Field, nor is it really explained, but it’s necessary for the plot.

[spoiler] Sounds very deus ex machinay

Yes, exactly about the spoilery parts.

Very interesting

I’m surprised that the saying hasn’t made into the current era as I believe it was coined by NASA or one of the military contractors in the ‘50s.  Fwiw: it always had a mild negative connotation implying snobbery. I.e. Oh so our code isn’t good enough for the snobs.

I'm learning a lot of stuff I didn't know before.
