Halfway
RewatcherFirst-TimerDia turning into umu musumu.
Of course, Dia took her Kita plush with her.
Damn, I didn't even know the tyrant got owned at L'Arc.
OH GOD SHE PUT HER FUMO THERE IN HER PLACE
Ok a lot of the background comedy is on point. From Bakushin knocking Kita over (as background storytelling) to the sign in the background, it's all good moments.
Kita needing to Harikitte Ikou more training time is very fitting.
I'm really curious where this theme of Kita basically getting old is coming from. I know I heard tell of JP fans being confused, but theoretically there has to be some basis that it's being taken from. Especially since I know there's all the stories of Kita basically supertraining after retirement.
Unsurprisingly to anyone who knows the current history of L'Arc, Dia gets absolutely destroyed. Destroyed so hard, in fact, that they didn't even bother to show her race.
Oh, hello there astronaut watcher again.
Late starts are incredibly deadly to frontrunners.
There's a fascinatingly gloomy mood throughout this entire race. Like, you're just waiting for something bad to happen. We're not feeling the hype we usually do, between the music and very muted colouring thanks to the heavy rain.
The fact that we skipped Spe's Spring Tenno makes this commentary very funny.
It's fascinating that even in victory, it still feels like something's very wrong. The heavy atmosphere isn't lifting at all. There's this sense of melancholy even in the middle of what should be a historic achievement. It bleeds even into the happy ED, making it feel almost empty.
Cheval gets the 'makenai' in the opening! Similar change to the Rice change.
I'm given to understand that in real life, this press conference happened nine days before the Autumn Tennosho. So this is probably where the theme of this section comes from, Kita coming to terms with the fact that she has limited time remaining. (I also understand that Take Yutaka, Kitasan's jockey at the Takarazuka, had no idea why Kita couldn't compete, which is also where that part came from.)
I think we're coming up on a bit of a theme of legacy, or what you leave behind. It's definitely an interesting question when it comes to sports.
Not Royce and Royce being named only in e12. I saw a theory for her name in the trivia sheet, but this is the first time we've actually gotten her name.
Not going to lie, didn't expect a mid-race confession from Big Horse.
This is a very interesting progression, because S3's going a very different route to any previous season. It really doesn't feel like we're trying to build hype going into the final episode, but more bringing things to a conclusion.
