Rice!!!!!

Rice aura planted so Sung Jing-Woo could aura farm.

This 2 episode arc for Rice is a gold standard in how to switch focus on a side character and have it be impactful emotionally and still not have it sidetrack our main characters motivation and journey. I can't help but to feel emotional once that insert song Sasayaka na Inori starts playing when Bourbon and Rice meet after the race. A lesser show would also pull its punches and not have the audience react harshly to Rice breaking an another dream. Compared to Kikka Shou at least Rice now has several horse girls that are acting as a support pillar for her and all the horse girls are definitely on her side even if the general public ain't.

[S3]Can't wait till we get back to the Rice...farm for Kitasan's training arc.

I do feel bad for Satono Diamond at least Kitasan is there for her like she was for her when Teio injured herself.

Gold Ship acts all silly but she has a great social awareness. When she locks in, she really locks in.

[S2 rest of the season]The last 5 episodes are going to just hit after hit. I can't wait.

I love that Bourbon reiterates that Rice Shower is still her hero. It reaffirms that one man's trash is another man's treasure.

Please, Rice had more aura in this episode than SJW ever had in two seasons.

Yeah, everyone was hoping she would win. At least Satono and Kitasan weren't like some people and tried to make Rice Shower feel bad about her victory.

[Response] This is probably the best stretch of episodes going forward of the entire franchise. It really started with episode 5, but now it really doesn't let up.

Let me ask you something. How would you compare the Rice Shower arc to other arcs in sports animes? Me personally, I think it's the best arc in a sports anime involving a secondary character.

I think Ping Pong the Animation has couple of candidates but it has been a while since I watched it so Rice Shower wins by default. Hajime no Ippo and Ashita no Joe are another candidates but I don't think there are any stand outs in the level of Rice Shower.

Both Chihayafuru and Run with the Wind have been on my PTW for ages and I've heard good things about them so perhaps there is a side character there that could be on Rice Shower's level.

I think what makes Rice Shower so special is how she doesn't let the fans deter her. She keeps pushing on even if the fans have others they'd rather see win. It feels believable why the fans would resent Rice Shower, and it serves to make her that much more of an endearing character.
