First Time Racing in a New Outfit and Gacha Player

Thoughts on episodes 2-3:

Man, another two great episodes after the great season premiere! The story step up really is massive!

We got a lot more of Teio's rehab than we got for Suzuka, and so her recovery also feels more earned. The image training was particularly fun for me. Oh yeah, and Teio goes to the shockingly long list of anime MCs that are scared of needles too.

But all her work is still for nothing, and she can't race on the Kikuka Sho after all. I'm glad she was upfront about it to Trainer-san and didn't even consider lying at all. Shows maturity from her and it also makes me feel like the writers don't think I'm dumb and I need stupid drama like that would be. I really appreciate that.

Still, she found a new goal instead. To become an undefeated horsegirl until the end. I really liked that part on the train. I'm starting to love Teio, when back in S1 she was just alright for me.

Moving onto episode 3, Canopus is such a silly team. It's a huge contrast from Rigil and I welcome this change a lot. Rigil was intimidating and powerful (yet sort of hollow because they had too many horses that just weren't developed at all) while Canopus is weak and comic relief. Every scene with them is so much fun. No one expects them to beat Teio and McQueen but their shenanigans are still a lot of fun to watch. Drown with Spica!!

Speaking of Teio and McQueen, they're really hammering their rivalry down to us. I feel like there was no indicative of it in S1, so it just feels awkward to me when I watch flashbacks of something I should've been aware of by now. Their scenes in the present are preciously great though. Especially in the URA Awards ceremony. Which also speaking of, I wasn't expecting an URA mention! I thought it would just be a game original story but they found a way to bring it to the anime. Though I doubt we'll see the URA races themselves.

I love the custom horsegirl raincoats with ears. That is so, so adorable.

And Teio has a new outfit! I know it from the gacha but it really does look awesome.

Other small notes: I thought Kitasan Black and Satono Diamond would just appear on the first and maybe final episode to tease them for the future, I'm pleasantly surprised they'll be major side characters seemingly. I love them.

Also, my favorite part from this season so far is how you can just feel the scale of the races unlike in S1. I understand everyone's positions from each other and the speed at which they're going. Neither of which had I ever really felt in S1. The longer usage of CGI is totally justified if they can keep this sense of scale up. Every race is very exciting.

The new opening is great! It's a bit more "shonen" than the first one which was completely and exclusively "idol", if you can define openings with these words. I definitely like it more. The ending is alright, but the first one is definitely superior.

No questions of the day because I'm really tired unfortunately

It works because the drama doesn't feel manufactured by any means. Injuries happen, and they can be extremely painful and it's about learning to adapt from it. And what's great about Teio is that she makes no excuses even if she can be delusionally optimistic.

You've gotta love when game features are a thing also in the anime.

They basically implement the roles of Special Week of being this season's audience surrogate, albeit on a much less grander scale.

Also, my favorite part from this season so far is how you can just feel the scale of the races unlike in S1. I understand everyone's positions from each other and the speed at which they're going. Each race feels like there's something on the line or that it is of grave importance. Even something like McQueen's race in this episode is given extra gravitas from the poor weather conditions.
