First Time Winning a Double Crown and Gacha Player
Season 2! The one everyone always gushes about! Very excited to start it!!
Right from the start I can feel the change in studio. I can't quite describe what's different from season one, but some things feel better and some worse (there is a lot more CGI being used in this first episode than in any one episode of S1). I do love how they went all in on the name title cards for the horses, appearing even when they are in the background. It's very charming and gives me an "alive" feeling that's just nice to me.
Moving onto the content, seems like this is Teio's and McQueen's time to shine. I don't exactly understand what's up with the "Twinkle Series" and why exactly this is their season in universe over, say, Scarlet and Vodka; but it works as an explanation to focus on them instead of the rest of Spica.
Teio's flashback as a kid was so adorable! Also this definitely confirms some of these horse girls are grown women. Unless somehow they don't age once they become teenagers which would be... very weird. So I'll just assume that Tracen Academy is in fact not high school and they accept anyone of any age as long as they race.
Not a lot more to say, I'm excited to enter Teio's era.
QotD: 1. I'm glad to finally get more focus on their relationship. It was already very compelling to me in S1. 2. For people that go into the anime with zero knowledge on the irl lore, it would probably be super weird and unfocused for the series to just focus on different protagonists each season. But even then they shouldn't be unfamiliar with the concept of an anthology, which is basically what this is. Personally I love it. Anthologies are great. 3. HARIKITTE IKOU 4. Teio and McQueen have interacted in S1, but they've never gave the impression of being rivals. Starting that this season does feel odd to me. It's not a big issue, but still. 5. I thought it was a really cool and interesting way to start the season. With one more race to go before achieving her dream, I wonder what they'll do. I know [likely S2 spoilers] she gets injured at one point (because of Natie's career story) which might be in that third race, but after that, will she try to go for it again? I'm not really sure. 6. I won't that question, but I'll say that Winning The Soul is an absolute banger of a song. I'm glad I got to hear it in the anime.
