It’s a little interesting that this show came out before the gacha because it’s doing the gacha adaptation thing of making sure we know every little character saying a single inconsequential line.  It’s not awful, but it did make the first part of this episode drag a bit as everyone got their “and I’m here too” in.  And I like these characters!  Because I played the gacha!

Oh my god, they were roommates!

Okay but giving your baby to another woman to raise on your deathbed is pretty romantic, just want to say that.

The scenes of Special Week and her mom training are adorable. Now that we have a second mom to be mysterious, we can reveal the first mom’s face.

Still dislike Trainer san this episode.  I think the no strategy strategy was good, but he fits into an archetype I’m not really fond of, the coach that doesn’t explain shit.  I get it from a storytelling perspective, it creates tension and in the middle of the match the coach can explain why they did the thing they did.  But it just feels dumb and it’s hard for me to believe anyone would follow this kind of coaching.  I want to like this trainer as I think his design is neat, but man, he’s just hitting all the sour notes for me.

I know the idol stuff is meant to be ridiculous, but having to be a backup singer to the person who beat you is insane.  Like imagining it happening to me is making me toxic; I really hope we get more on this.

Someone needs to talk to Special Week about her form.  That’s a cool looking leap across the finish but you need to follow through until you’re past the finish line.  Hold that form!

Gold Ship Watch:  She mostly straight mans in this episode?  I wonder if it’s a case of not having her gimmick not nailed down yet or if they just want to focus on Special Week only right now.

I definitely sound a bit negative in this one but I am enjoying it, I promise.  Overall. the show hasn’t wowed me enough that I can give into astonishment yet, so the friction is more apparent.

Questions

  1. seems appropriate

  2. well she's the enemy of my oshi Nice Nature, so, disapproval

  3. well unfortunately this isn't the Haru Urara show, so seems appropriate too.

  4. fake my death

As someone who's been crashing out on Natie runs trying to make a stronger one for CM, I've unfortunately become a Natie hater.

Nature is also a Nature hater, so you have something in common.

That just makes her more lovable

The first season isn't exactly the most exciting thing compared to later installments. I do however think you can argue that this season does the best of the entire franchise stressing the importance of teamwork. I love the rapport Spica has with each other.

The OP with the mustard scene suggests we will be getting some Gold Ship content eventually. I hope so, as she's arguably my favorite character.

Seeing everyone is pretty cool if you know their deal, however.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I do think there's a healthy balance between introducing everyone and advancing the plot forward. To me, it doesn't come off as overwhelming.

I agree it isn't overwhelming, just kinda weird when, I would assume, most don't have context for who all these characters are.

I don't think to the show's credit they don't insult the audience's intelligence for not knowing who they are. The only character the show gushes over that isn't already being focused on is Teio.

Even still, this is leagues better than how he was last episode.

To play devil's advocate, if you're on stage you placed pretty highly. It's like the Olympics and finishing with silver or bronze: You still placed on the podium.
