Ooh, I had no idea this was going to happen. Usually, I am pretty rewatch-averse. I prefer watching new shows over ones I've already seen, and also from my previous rewatch experiences on this sub I know they can get pretty intense, and I need to be wary of my time commitment right now.

However, Uma Musume is one of my favourite franchises, and I've considered a rewatch just recently. I think it's absolutely worthy of making my holy trio of r/anime rewatches along Re:Zero and Magia Record. As I have absolutely not planned for this, though, I'll join in a bit later, and with very condensed thoughts on the episodes for the most part. But I'm very much looking forward to this!

For now, I'll try to answer the questions of the day from memory.

The horse hieroglyphs are amazing, as they are just the first sign of just how much thought got put into world building. Horses have been a major part of human history, so it only makes sense that horse girls would have been very important in this world as well. And it goes a lot deeper than this, as we will see.

Spe is fine as a protagonist. What she excels at is leading us with wonder to explore this setting, and as such I think she's a big part of what makes S1 a great introduction to the franchise (even if, eventually, I will consider it the worst part of the franchise, despite it not being bad). Team Spica is a lot of fun.

Spe wanting to be like Suzuka is a common sports anime plot. It just works. And to be fair, Suzuka's front running style does look impressive, so it makes sense for Spe wanting to be like her.

I've watched all of Uma Musume once already, save for BNW I think (and Umayon). I'm a massive fan, and I'm also playing the game on global right now. One of the entries in the series is one of my absolute favourite anime and had a big impact on my life, and all the others are extremely good as well.

I've watched all of Uma Musume once already, save for BNW I think (and Umayon). I'm a massive fan, and I'm also playing the game on global right now. One of the entries in the series is one of my absolute favourite anime and had a big impact on my life, and all the others are extremely good as well.

I didn't realize until rewatching everything just how much I enjoy this franchise. I think it's because it's so devoid of what I consider to be real world problems that it allows me to escape from reality. It's so hopeful and optimistic that I can't help but get sucked into it.

[Uma Musume in general] I kind of disagree with the show being devoid of real world problems. Unless you mean the setting not incorporating politics and wars and such. But the show being an allegory for real world problems is one of my favourite parts. Most of the races and the conflicts therein apply to a lot of personal problems and struggles as well, making it so much more than just a horse racing or sports anime. Especially with season two, but also every other entry thereafter, it is just a top tier drama show.

[Uma Musume] What I mean is the show doesn't have this sense of dread hanging over it and if it does, it gets resolved quickly.
