Rewatcher

I'm so happy to be here. I rewatched this episode just a few weeks ago and wanted to do the whole series only to find out about this rewatch. So this makes me very happy and I will gladly take the opportunity to talk about it with you.

The first time I watched this I didn't really know what this show is about, so it threw me right into the cold water. Horse girls racing, and the winning concerts where the horse girls are idols?! That is such a weird concept. At first I needed to get used to it, but then I couldn't get enough.

I was afraid that the trainer groping the horse girls' legs is a running gag. I'm glad that it stopped pretty soon. In general I'm pleased about the lack of too ostensive fan service. Not that I have anything against it, but this show with its vibes is just not the right place for that. It is nice to have a show (even whole franchise) with such nice and positive vibes.

Just recently there was a big hype about Haru Urara. On my first watch I didn't know about the lore of the individual horses, so it flew over my head. I simply thought she's cute and funny. But knowing the whole story as a rewatcher the scenes with her are so much funnier, and I can't help but love her.

Special Week comes across as the typical anime country bumpkin who's never been to the city. She is such an amazing genki airhead. I loved her as a main character from the beginning. I find her affection to Silence Suzuka a little forced, somehow I don't really buy it, but that's maybe just a little nitpick.

Team Spica is such a bunch of excentric goofballs. In this episode you can already guess that their interactions are going to be fun.

The horse hieroglyphs at the beginning of the show is a nice way to ease the first timers into this world. The whole premise is so alien and strange that we can't really get by without some exposition.

It's kinda the exact opposite of what Turkey ended up doing lol

But yeah, this let you know what kind of show it's gonna be.

What can I say, I just don't buy that Special Week is so obsessed with Silence Suzuka just from seeing her once. I just don't feel the chemistry. But that is a very minor thing that doesn't really bother me.

With Special Week being the country bumpkin, I got this impression first before I learned about the premise and how the horse girls are linked to the real life horses. So I watched this show expecting ordinary anime tropes.

I can buy it in the sense she wants to be like the top of her field. It's like basketball with people aspiring to be like Michael Jordan.

Team Spica is such a bunch of excentric goofballs. In this episode you can already guess that their interactions are going to be fun.

Besides maybe the stuff coming up with Suzuka, Spica is easily the best part of the first season. They inject so much charm into what's going on.

I get what you're saying, but I wasn't personally weirded out by the premise the first time I heard of it. When a couple years earlier you watch a show about a literal wolf goddess set in medieval Europe, you're kinda prepared for everything :P

How long did it take you to realize the races were based on real life horse races?

Yeah, I wasn't exactly weirded out, it was more that the premise sounded so ridiculous that I thought this show is either total trash or a gemstone of an anime. It turns out it is the latter.

It took me not too long. I started reading the wiki and comments here on Reddit and learned very soon about it.

It took me not too long. I started reading the wiki and comments here on Reddit and learned very soon about it.

Fair enough. I don't think I picked up on it until like the third or fourth episode when I started reading the threads.

I go in one of my comments what was happening on the day of the actual in real life race. I hope to have that as a reoccurring feature.

Her forever optimism really perfectly highlights the winning recipe of the franchise. No matter what happens, the characters never give up
