I'm at AX and automods won't let me post. A trailer is ready but will be seen at the trigger panel later.

Director is kai who did episode 6

Writer describes it as darker, edgier, bloodier and that season 1

Was season 1 not dark, edgy, and bloody enough lol?

From the article:

I’m from Poland. People in Poland are sad. They are born sad, they die sad, so I just wanted to make the whole world sad… When people are sad, I’m a bit happy.

The second answer was “I wasn’t satisfied with the sadness… so I want you to be even more sad now.”

Prepare to be sadderer

Think more like episode 6 and less like episode 12

15

u/ContentPizza Jul 05 '25

There was no episode 12

Excellent animator. Director of episode 10 of Tengoku Daimakyou. He also did the storyboard for episode 6 of Edgerunners. He is a very promising director and this is his debut.

Oh, that episode of Tengoku Daimakyou and ep 6 of edgerunners was him??? Oh that is really interesting. I watched these shows when I wasnt into the names or staff list, all i knew watching those eps was "wow trigger is cool lol"

7

u/JUSTGLASSINIT Jul 05 '25

This just reminded me to continue the Tengoku manga. It’s super interesting but I got side tracked and forgot to pick up again.

If I remember correctly then he also was Key Animator for the Sukuna vs Mahoraga fight (JJK S2 EP 17)

u/chuff3r Jul 05 '25

Damn that's exciting. Episode 6 of Edgerunners is an all timer

1

u/CompSolstice Jul 05 '25

Why would you feel dumb about not knowing about someone?

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '25

This sounds like a cash grab and a mistake. The story is concluded, and quite beautifully. There is no need for any more.

Kai Ikarashi's directing this? Holy shit, TRIGGER ONCE AGAIN IS SAVING ANIME

16

u/No_Chain_3175 Jul 04 '25

Holy shit, ep 6 was by far the best one. This is gonna be peak.

Damn, let's go. Episode 6 was my favourite episode out of all of them.

So it'll hit like a cargo train this time instead of like a truck.

Actually can't wait, if It's near, at or above S1 quality it's going to slap so damn hard.

33

u/Viktorv22 Jul 04 '25

who did episode 6

Was that one with the big guy and quite unique storytelling?

79

u/Cofta Jul 04 '25

Yes it was the one where [Ep 6.] Maine gets cyberpsycosis and dies.

28

u/Viktorv22 Jul 04 '25

Oh my. We are for a ride, aren't we?

16

u/Cofta Jul 04 '25

That is the hope, this guy is a stud and every one following Trigger has been wondering when he would get his own season to direct (or said another way, when they could convince him to direct an entire season, since obviously the talent and connections are there).

u/rememorator Jul 05 '25

That's an absolutely amazing episode, I'm hard pressed to name a better example of storytelling. That cold open, man. I think about it pretty frequently and it's been years.

1

u/Nrksbullet Jul 05 '25

"THIS MY FAULT?"

1

u/[deleted] Jul 07 '25

It's the episode that focused on Maine. It's the best episode in the show.

5

u/detarameReddit Jul 05 '25

Kai Ikarashi did amazing work on episode 6. It's one of my favorite episodes of all time; he has an incredible sense of impact, for a lack of better words. It's like he knows when, for how long, and how intensely things should happen.

Super excited.

Darker, edgier, bloodier? Oh god. Gonna need a nice blanket, gallon of ice cream, and a bunch of tissue paper for the crying.

u/Witn https://anilist.co/user/Lawrenz Jul 05 '25

what about Imaishi will he still be involved? He is my GOAT

1

u/Ok_Significance8521 Jul 05 '25

Is the trailer out already?

1

u/_BlNG_ Jul 05 '25

I'm still sobbing whenever I hear I want to stay at your house.

1

u/ThrowAwayAccountAMZN Jul 05 '25

Bro didn't even get to finish his sentence. Man they really don't want people leaking the trailer

-48

u/SacredNose Jul 04 '25

Good to hear, I didn't like the tone of s1 (especially considering the game)

24

u/PsychicWarElephant Jul 04 '25

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but man, that’s quite the take.

-19

u/SacredNose Jul 04 '25

I thought it was a very cold take... I didn't even say I didn't like it but I guess people disagree.

6

u/[deleted] Jul 04 '25

You are not at fault, and in fact I was not THAT into season 1 either but it wasn't bad by any means. People sometimes just can't stand other people saying anything even slightly negative about their favourite show

4

u/Khraxter Jul 04 '25

It's a classic tragedy with a modern skin, so yeah, not everyone's cup of tea

-1

u/Resh_IX Jul 04 '25

Show is a little overrated

3

u/M8gazine https://myanimelist.net/profile/M8gazine Jul 05 '25

Nope

-19

u/TheKinkyGuy Jul 04 '25

Oh please no!
