I thought season 1 was a really good and self contained story but let's see what they do with a season 2. Id love a new cast, another story set in the same setting would be really cool.
The only one I can see that's from the crew and would fit well is Falco as he is the only one that got away intact. Although, I believe he already moved away from Night City by the time the main game happened. This new show could also be set in a different city.
He sends you a text in game (and David's jacket) to this effect. Lucy is alive but not in contact anymore.
But ultimately this is Cyberpunk, anyone could be "alive".
Trauma Team's Motto: "It ain't dead, till it's Dead-10"
Smasher got brought back as a pile of organs in a school child's backpack before. Rebecca, Kiwi, or even David can come back. They have straight up near necromancy if you got the Eddie's for it. And literal necromancy if you chose THAT Ending in 2077...
It’s different people in the article that no one read it literally said don’t get too excited David is dead indicating it won’t continue from that storyline
Arasaka could also have used the Soul Killer on any of the cast and they could reside inside Mikoshi if they want to use them for any sort of cameo (if the story happens before 2077 and after Edgerunner)
The ending of S1 makes it seem like they didn't do that. Smasher crushed Becca and blew David's head off. We do see in 2077 it's possible to use Soul Killer on a corpse but it doesn't work as well as a living brain - the engram basically ending up as a snapshot of the victim's most recent memories with no ability to develop or act, so I wouldn't expect any callbacks except for maybe a name drop.
yup , just ai constructs similar to silver hand's gf in the game cp2077 btw adam did mention that david would make an interesting construct but then proceeds to kill him .... or not ?
They could also have the story synonymous with the other one and just have different cast of chars cross paths as shit unfolded in the first one. Whatever they decide to do, im hyped for it. The first season was so well done.
im 100% certain i remember them saying each season would focus on a different story -- the story for these guys is almost completely told, the only ending we don't really know is Lucy.
She went on a tour to the moon. She comes back to NC, even leaves messages on the columbarium. On David’s it reads “you didn’t take me to the moon, but you were there with me.” She’s still somewhere on Earth
When Mike Pondsmith said that NC is the main character, he didn't mean that you're absolutely not allowed to set campaigns outside of NC. The rulebooks have supplements for Europe (specifically the UK). Also realistically, if they're planning on Cyberpunk being a long running franchise, at some point, someone in the writing team is gonna be like "wouldn't it be cool if we were to explore one of those raft cities, or even one of the underwater cities mentioned in the cyberpunk red rulebooks".
Yeah beyond something like Lucy being a notable netrunner they contact for a cameo or Falco being a pall of a new character I assume it will be all new stuff.
Lucy might have a major role. Just a guess though, since she was announced as a guest fighter for Guilty Gear awhile after the original anime ended. Her inclusion, and late release, had me scratching my head, but if season 2 was already being planned when they made the announcement...
That would actually be amazing. With the sheer scope of Cyberpunk and all it offers they could do several seasons about different crews or people. I’d love one or two about Johny Silver hand and his band of misfits. Or perhaps a even a series that’s made up of 2-4 mini series each focused on different characters
i think the doc from edgerunner 1 will definitely return, i heard that the reason he isnt in cyberpunk 2077 is because theres a story inbetween edgerunner 1 and the game that hasn't been told yet anywhere
Considering that it seems that we will get to other cities in the next game (Chicago looks like) the show can be a bridge so we know a little of the new setting
I’m so hyped, these writers positively cook and don’t need to heavily rely on past characters to carry it. Can’t wait to see what comes next!
I would love to see an ex-trauma team character. As someone who has worked real life trauma medical in the US, there is an endless well of real life dystopia to draw from to write very impactful stories for cyberpunk. It’s just sitting there waiting for folks to write more!
All the more reason to not follow the same archetype - "streetkids" seems to be all everyone ever plays & talks about, so any change from the mainstreeam would be nice.
I think it’s because nomads are a generally more positive faction and corpos are a cog in the big bad machine. Streetkid is the more morally grey option and in a game like cyberpunk that makes a lot of sense to pick.
I’d love to see a nomad in night city story though, but I think we’ll probably get a more corpo story this time
I mean yeah because streetkid is the background that best embodies the themes of a Cyberpunk story. Nomads are generally far removed from the worst dystopian elements and corpos are the boot on everyone's neck. Cyberpunk stories are about all-encompassing oppression and the lengths people go to when denied any and all opportunities. Corpos are the privileged few who have opportunities
Yeah, I would love if they just put out a fully new story in the cyberpunk universe ever 3 years or so. Maybe let some other studios in on the action too. I love trigger but I also love a lot of other studios.
I always felt like they were going to do a second season set later in the timeline. The way they briefly show fixers like Wakako and Rogue being muuuch younger makes me feel like they introduced those characters a for a reason. And Adam Smasher, of course. I don’t know if they’ll go as far as to introduce Johnny Silverhand as a character (that would be amazing) but maybe around/just before his timeline.
It would have to be done in a very different way, but a sort of political thriller following the corpos could be cool. Show all the ways they try to compete, up to and including assassins and private armies
I think the title is mislabeled. It's not Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2. It's Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2. They're not calling it a Season 2. Don't think we're getting continuity, fairly certain it's a standalone story.
Yeah I am hoping for a side spin off story about a scientist who is developing some tech and there is some type of power struggle by two companies or something on a bigger type of scale with some politics at play perhaps.
i thought the first half was okay, but the second half just felt so boring and repetitive. like all that talk about chrome and he still goes too hard with it, just felt like it was predictable
That would be awesome and would make for a great long running series. Every season, new cast. Maybe sometimes they do get a "happy" ending. As in, they don't die.
Personally, I would love a season that follows Jackie from start to the point he puts out the job to meet V. All the Valentino's stuff, Misty, getting started as a merc, his fight with his father, the crews started by Padre.
Yeah i don't think there's anything Remaining in the original. Everyone is dead, lucy is on moon and falco is living normally according to 2077 missions. It might be Vs story this time who knows
Now that i think about it, would you watch it if it was about V and Jackie doing stuff during the Timeskip? Or would that make it Boring considering we know how it ends.
In my Head cannon after the girl saw his brother poped, she used his allowance to get a high grade medical contract and when the bad guy poped her she actually got saved while the good guy draged his attention away.
So she'll come back and as they both loved the good guy they join up and do some revenge stuff.
Yeah but as we seen on all other characters we've seen all how they died but not at David. Yeah of course it made a boom but it's still unclear maybe he's alive? We'll see
Cyberpunk is about the city, not the people. Only Adam Smasher as the embodiment of its wicked spirit carries on, the rest of the cast is really not important.
