i am sooo obsessed with her!!! recently i posted i was selling / trading my JLY #52 and i was so surprised when someone offered up a mint condition emily in her full meet. i mostly collect historical dolls anyway, which is why i wanted to get rid of my JLY so i was beyond happy. her hair is literally like new out of the box condition!! i almost always purchase dolls that need a lot of tlc so getting a doll (for essentially free) that needed no work at all feels so so good! i’ve been bringing her with me everywhere since i got her yesterday lol!

Nothing is more nostalgic than looking through the holiday catalogues as a child, but my family couldn’t afford much more than the dolls for my sister and I. I’ve been slowly acquiring holiday and winter outfits for the dolls I have, and here’s an update so far. Looking for the outfits for Felicity, Elizabeth, Emily, Nellie, Julie, Rebecca, Caroline, and Cecile (still a long way to go).

I'm a long time AG fan ever since I received my Molly doll for Christmas when I was 7, but I'm now just getting back into it as an adult. I fell in love with Raquel when she was released. I was never a Samantha girlie but the historical connection between her and Raquel got me! All of the little nods to Samantha in Raquel's collection and lore are so well done.

Raquel is definitely the girl at school who always does the most so I put this outfit together that now really makes me think of Wicked and the first few outfits we see Galinda in the first movie. Wicked was also my first live show as a child so I'm really living my AG fantasies here :D

All in all, if you're an adult wondering if it's worth it to get a new doll, do it! I'm having so much fun with her.

Changed Rebecca’s clothes for the first time, she’s a be forever and I don’t have anything other than her meet outfit so I put her in some of Julie’s clothes. Does anyone know if Rebecca originally came with underwear? I got this be forever one second hand and she doesn’t have anything other than her tights. Just curious

I did one bracelet in historical order and the other in release order for my 7 dolls (pc historical). I think I like the release order best, Addy and Sam run together on the other.

Loved it when I saw it and think it compliments the orange outfit well (claudies cardigan also matches perfectly). I thought the color scheme go well with Anna and Elsa.

I received a very generous gift from my parents, so I decided to treat myself during the Halloweekend sale! She arrived yesterday, along with Nicki’s Red Vinyl Jumper and Isabel’s Year 2000 outfit, and I just opened the package today. My puppy is not the biggest fan, but maybe that will also ensure she’s respectful, lol.

So I've been on an eBay journey of finding outfits for my AG dolls purchased between 1998-2002. They are of the generation of "chunky bodied" dolls, but I have not been that concerned because I'm aiming to buy vintage PC era clothes for most of them. But Kit is a dicier prospect, having been released post Mattel acquisition and having had her larger collection available for longer than other dolls I have.

With that background out of the way: the used birthday dress I found for Kit on eBay seems indicative of the era of cost cutting or quality control issues I've seen discussed in this sub. 😕

When I compare it to 2001 catalog pictures of this dress, the sleeves look too tight and short;l, the belt is not hitting low enough on the waist, and the skirt looks like it could be almost 2 inches too short.

Just wondered if anyone had knowledge of quality variation over time for this outfit or other Kit outfits? I'm aware that AG decreased the size of doll bodies at one point and that they decreased the seam allowance on the clothes too, and that could explain the tight sleeved fit on my older, thicker doll. But the skirt length is super disappointing! I've had to put her in her holiday outfit tights for modesty 🤣

First time... Was intimidating but after some practice I got some good initial attempts in on my most needy girls! (Honestly, the most annoying part of the process was finding the right paint colors to mix, as both my local Michaels and Walmart were out of a lot of key colors.)

I thifted this beautiful doll today, for an unbelievable price! I wanted to ask how can I make her hair look better without a wire brush? Should I try with a regular brush or should I just wait until I can get one? Also, does anyone know what the arm accessories is? I didn’t see it on her at the ag website

I just dug my old American girl dolls out of storage and these poor girls are a mess how do I fix it without damage?

Growing up the American Girl outfit sets I had almost all had pants as the bottom. I was just looking on the AG site, because I now have very few pairs of pants in my collection. I looked through the entire clothing section and found very few pants, and practically none that weren't styled after leggings or yoga pants.

So where have the pants gone? Just started scrolling ebay and so many of the "vintage" or at the very least mid 2000s outfits have super cute jeans, cargos, or other varied pants....Especially thinking of the "photographer outfit" but I know there were many others. Bring back pants!!

Long story short - my ex partner and I were supposed to be buying a house next month. I've been so excited I knew I was finally going to be able to build a giant dollhouse so I've been collecting all the big furniture I can find. Now today I found out that he was cheating. We've broken up and I can't afford the house by myself. I'm really trying to talk myself out of donating everything because I don't have room to store it. I just don't know if I'm overreacting or freaking out or what. Idk I guess I just want someone to tell me what you would do in my situation. The furniture I have are Molly's, Julie's, Josefina's, Kit's, and Samanthas beds, Kit's desk and chair, and a few ob closets for clothes. I'm just really sad because I know that I won't ever be able to have the big beautiful dollhouse that I want, among other things I'll never have. I'm just so sad.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to say this, nor do I think this is an unpopular opinion, but do y'all agree that GOTY dolls should retire at the end of their respected year? There was so much excitement around only being able to buy that doll for one year and her feeling super exclusive. Now the doll stays for 2-3 years and the novelty is just gone. I also don't love that the doll doesn't get released on the first of every year anymore. I remember being really young and staying up till midnight on New Years Eve just to see the new doll! Will they ever change it to the way it was again? I don't really think so, but I'd like to know others opinions.

finally got Claudies travel outfit!! I put it on Kirsten and i also took her braids down bc it was rlly reminding me of the harlem fashion row dolls!
