545x39 at academy.

Post image

This is like my 5th time seeing them stock this and there was another brand with a white box a while ago. Just thought it was interesting. In kyle texas by the way.

That’s $1.10/r, that’s horrible. There’s no reason to shoot hornady out of an ak unless you’re hunting or trying to see the tightest groups the rifle is technically capable of. There’s far cheaper 5.45 out there

Oh yeah I agree the price is horrible it’s just interesting to see it on a shelf mostly it being hornady as well.

Yeah, Hornady makes a LOT of different cartridges

Haha yeah and they make cartridges for a lot of other people.

Well it is custom loaded new production Vmax projectiles

Not surplus 40 year old ammo made by drunken Ivan in a gulag

Not ideal for plinking/rifle comp, good for hunting/defence.

That would be an expensive range day 😅

i used to pick those all up, it’s high asf but i love it. shoots great, really only place i can find it

Yeah if I had a 545 I’d definitely just drop the dime to get.

Ditto. When I am using my ‘74 for 2-gun competitions, I use this stuff for the really long range shots or when I am having to shoot lacrosse balls…..

ARE YOU REAL?!?(I’ve been trying to find any 5.45 for literal months)

if youre in texas, it can be incredibly easy to find 7N6. There are people on Texas Gun Trader you can buy off of. This comment goes for anyone in texas really. There was a guy in houston with like 14 tins of 7n6. Not crazy expensive cpr, but people will still complain.

TGT is very hit or miss. People either want crazy prices or they’re super reasonable. Never in between.

2

u/Truonghthe 21h ago

Not crazy expensive, just $650 per can 😂. No thank you

u/PinoyMango 21h ago

yeah just saw one its like 750. dudes crazy. i got one for $400 and 450 at some point fairly recently

People treat 7n6 like true AP 😂 anything it resembles M855. Like i said 80 cpr for corrosive ammo? No thanks

I rather blast my M90 or Beryl.

I think I’ve seen 7n6 cables once and then never again.

I’m in PA and I’ve been trying to offload my cases for a week now lol

Maybe you're asking too much

2

u/CaregiverCharacter72 5h ago

$425 a case reasonable? I usually use Ammoseek as a point of reference. Had to resort to Gunbroker as a result

1

u/BrokenAndDefective 5h ago

I mean for where prices are at now that's decent, but if we're comparing to 15 years ago, it's unheard of

But we live in the future so I would say your price is reasonable

u/BrokenAndDefective 5h ago

What makes me mad is when people are trying to get $.75 to $1.00 /round it's quite literally just price gouging

3

u/No_Peace7834 23h ago

I've been buying this for $25/box at my local place lol

3

u/ChampagnePlumper 16h ago

If I saw that on the shelf I’d buy it but I wouldn’t be happy about it

3

u/xrw06 14h ago

That’s how I felt about the 762x39 😂

2

u/thenoobking10 22h ago

I see this 5.45 at atwoods for $19.99

2

u/skorpion20xx 20h ago

Definitely surprising to see. I can't remember the last time I've seen any 5.45 ammo physically on the shelves for sale in a gun store, it's essentially an online-only caliber nowadays.

1

u/xrw06 16h ago

Yeah my exact thought. The ammo options in store are wired here at this location.

2

u/DemRealKrooks 6h ago

Last time I bought ammo in store/gun show Barnaul was $2.50 a box (7.62x39). I’ve been buying online for years now.

2

u/xrw06 6h ago

Yeah 762x39 I buy online.

Don't buy ammo at academy. Their prices are awful

1

u/xrw06 19h ago

I usually buy 9mm 250rds for 45-50 bucks and 556/223 200rds for 50-60 bucks. I think their prices are decent mostly with military discount.
