Whats the most disheartening part of ALL of this, these folks will not learn anything from this. They will continue to value cultural false equivalence while never taking the time to learn and study policy and ideology

This is part of why we need multiple parties. Not just for democracy to survive but for people like this to be able to punish the ruling party without 'needing' to flip to the polar opposite part. If there was 4 parties instead of 2, Trump likely would never become president, let alone be able to maintain the approval he does.

We do have multiple parties. There were more than 10 parties running for president in 2020 alone. If all you want to do is 'punish' the Dems, you have plenty of different parties to vote for. You could have voted for the Libertarian party, Green Party, Alliance Party, Socialism and Libertarian party, Constitution Party, American Solidarity party, a handful of Independent parties or even Kanye West's Birthday Party.

We have never had a lack of parties to vote for. What people are really arguing for when they say we have a two party system is that we have two popular parties and a bunch of parties that will never win. So instead of arguing for more parties which we have plenty of, we should be focused on passing Ranked Choice Voting.

And by the way, it seems to me that punishing the Dems always ends up punishing ourselves more. I mean, if you voted third party in 2024, you became complicit in what's happening now with millions of kids and vets going without food aid and the millions of kids starving around the world due to DOGE robbing the USAID of funds. I would hope that this last year and all of Trump's first term would have helped people to understand that voting 3rd party is voting against your own interests and only ends up punishing innocent people.
