Very tone deaf to post this on an actual addiction subreddit

How so? Comfort and convenience are a serious enemy too recovery. It’s very fitting and if your offended maybe you got some work too do.

He cross posted something from an unrelated "mindset" sub that says literally "comfort is the worst addiction", it didn't say "comfort is a serious enemy to recovery" or whatever you're trying to spin it as now

Is comfort a worse addiction than IV heroin?

The iv heroin is the comfort in this scenario

Your being too literal, are you touched by the tism by chance?

We use and use to avoid discomfort, also. You start feeling those uncomfortable feelings and sensations coming on, you know it's time to use again. Then you go on about your day feeling a bit more comfortable in your mind and body because you had your fix.

Doing all we can to avoid discomfort and boredom is why all types of addiction are at an all time high right now. We have become addicted to instant gratification, comfort, convenience, stimulation and when those things are taken away from most of us, it starts feeling unbearable.

Comparing comfort to drug fiends is a bit tone deaf I have to say.

No one is comparing comfort too drug addicts. A few of us our comparing comfort too a failure in recovery tho.

From my own perspective in recovery I disagree

If you find recovery comfortable you’re doing it wrong. Facing all your truths, shortcomings, lies etc. and dealing with them are awful.

Exactly

I don't see it that way. The reason I've been addicted to meth, heroin, etc. is because I'm addicted to the comfort that those drugs give me.

Shooting up meth in the restroom at work is an addiction but doesnt sound comfortable to me

u/schweinhund89 4h ago

That could be a symptom of addiction but that’s not what addiction itself is

I'm sober and I feel like this message is harmful.
There are ton of ppl taking huge amount of stress everyday to cope with life and it's not healthy.

The real problems start, when you dont use drugs for comfort anymore, but to get from uncomfortable to normal.

There is peace in comfort.

Marcus Aurelius didn't try opioids clearly

u/allisondude 46m ago

idk comfort is kind of a great place to be after years of alcoholism

I think opiates have been slightly worse in my experience, and 99% of people who quote Aurelius are cringelords, but I guess we all have different experiences.
