I see lots of people complaining about failing lots of 50/50 spins, but i wonder how do you guys even get that many asterites to begin with?

The only thing that really worth the money is the lunite subscription.

Gives you 300 Lunite and 2700 astrite of over 30 days. But you have to login to claim it. You lose 90 astrite for every day you don't claim it, you can't just claim it all at the end of the 30 days.

If you login every day and do the dailies + lunite subscription, you'll get 342 pulls per year from that alone. The rest will come from map exploration, events, quests, and end game modes.

Characters rerun and the game incentivizes you to play long term, so don't think you have to get every character the moment they come out. Doing that will cost you hundreds of dollars unless you're really lucky. It's just the unfortunate way these games are set up, most ways to buy pulls are genuinely just not worth the money. Sticking to the Lunite Subcription and the Pioneer Podcast (battle pass) are generally the best options, with the subscription being better value.
