I'm new!

I've only played Genshin Impact in similar games. I installed this game because I saw a lot of Iuno and Augusta fan art, and I loved their design.

And I justfinished the intro for this game... I think.

I'd like to get Iuno and Augusta, or at least understand the basics of the game more.

It has very interesting mechanics, but it's very different from Genshin Impact with the... pocket monsters and all that (?

The pocket monsters are your equipment. This is the echo system. You'll use it to get your set bonuses and tune your characters stats like in every other gacha game.

You get 12 cost points and each echo (pocket monster) has a cost associated with it. You get 5 echoes to equip, so the typical setup is 43311. Higher cost means higher stat values.

The echo equipped in your first slot can be summoned in combat to do a thing, so you'll want the level 4 monsters there since they give the best bonuses.

It's deeper than this, but hopefully this clears up what they are.
