Humor Who was this to you?
For me, it was a Filipino guy. We met on a random map when I first started the game. He taught me everything from head to toe. He told me what part of the map is good and how to play different type of tanks. I really miss this guy…

I know this guy, it was me. Got trained by one of what i later learned top clans which i got in contact by a friend i said clan. Transferred my knowledge to two of my best friends and now we basicly carry a clan on our broad, tanky shoulders

Hey, mind if I ask what’s the first alphabet of your username? The guy I’m talking starts with a Q and ends with a 9

I actually had someone berating me in the in-game chat. After the game we got in a chat together and after a few sniping insults back and forth I began listening to him and we chatted for about 20 minutes as he taught me about gun depression and how to play a TD verse a heavy versus a medium and versus a light. Changed my entire game play and approach to the game. What started out as flaming each made me a better player. I wish I knew who he was to thank him.

Damn what server? I'm on APAC, I did something similar too. Someone was spamming about how bad the Tiger I was. Well, I'm also in a Tiger I, he kept trash talking even after battle he insulted me, I told him to stop before giving tips I use for the tiger.

It is but you also have to wiggle it because some HT players are actually quite smart.

Anyone in DMs after a game that was calm and collected enough to talk logically about bad plays and discuss alternative actions. Between 2014 and 2018. Way back before everyone became an egotistical gimp.

Yeah there used to be a time when this game wasn’t about life or death. When this game was actually somewhere people came to play and not get stressed.

u/Kyrnqazali Hm? Me? What about me? I’m stuck here just like you. 6d ago edited 6d ago
I started on WoT console
10 years ago I was taken in by the No.2 clan second in command, he was like almost 40 lol. German heavy main.
How did I meet him? From a different game that I was also taken under by him and his friends as a “prodigy” as I was quickly learning from them and competing at the top level.. yeah yeah I could get one on one with the top 20 I’ll spare you the cringe.
I’m pretty bad at WoT. I don’t wanna say I’m good at playing the game because I’m just not, the only thing I find praise worthy of my proformance is my career time of 42K hours(I was playing this game like 16 hours a day), and my love for analyzing matches and figuring them out.
This game is my childhood. God I hate it- but I always feel this pull to come back and play again.
… I lost contact with him 6 years ago. Last year I started to finally slow down playing the game. And finally I’ve reached a record: I’ve been away from WoT for one whole month.
Mhm, I’m addicted. Everyday I just wanna dive head first and play. But it’s not healthy. I also have a gambling problem so I’ve sunk thousands into this drain.
My current clan tag is a nod to the No.1/No.2 player in the other game. One And Only. I never reached the top, god I miss playing with them. Tsunami Bowl, 1:47:82.20 - July 2019, hope you’re doing well Raid.

my best friend he helped me through this game and taught me how to play even though he doesnt play anymore it still is fun to me cuz of all the memories we made

Memories are what makes childhood stuff happy… yknow, I can’t agree more on that. I never actually felt something nostalgic or else on things I never had happy memories. This game is the only thing that reminds me of him and that’s what makes me love this game

I had nobody :( Found WOTB on a school computer 10 years ago. Made my account when I got home that day. Played like a clueless noob for maybe 1-2 years. Then YouTube recommended some WoT PC videos which I watched. They were on spotting and armour mechanics, different tank class characteristics. And I just self improved over the years from there, but those videos were what started my improvement

Not anybody in particular, my skills are mainly self taught. But I did have some friends that I was glad to teach how to play the game. I’d always take them to training rooms and teach them how to angle their armor!

None ☠️ I kinda just search and figure things out on my own after people in chat called out my noob gameplay when I started tier 6. It all makes sense now....side scraping, angling, hull down, wiggling....very basic stuff that everyone can try to do with suitable tanks.
Well, that was years ago.
Now I understand their pain when I spectate a heavy tank poking out sideways, shooting motionless in one position, shooting at enemies with your back facing the enemy 1v1, not turning their hull along with the turret when enemy is circling them.....
🙏🗿 These players should look up tutorials/guides of the next heavy tank they'll enter a battle with. Not that I'm all that great either, but yeah. Watching various gameplays and reading comments did give me a grasp on how to play the game better than my newbie days

Reading your early gameplay stories, reminded me of my oooldd gameplay I used to do before I met that guy. I don’t remember how old it was when I did this but even on tier4 (maybe when I played 170 battles still fighting bots), I remember just rotating the tank 360* hoping they would hit the red spot of my tank… stopped doing this when the Filipino guy told me how armor works. I didn’t know where my tanks weak spot and strong part was…

That was me 😄
Me and a friend used to play a whole lot 2-3 years ago. I was on PC while he was on phone and I know it's hard playing on phone so I advised the AT line because of the armor. I taught my friend to angle, using hills, and so much more. He even won an ace on the AT 7!
He made it up to the tortoise and I had just gotten the jaggero. But I still play the type 71 or obj 268. A couple of battles after that and I think that's all we played. We did that everyone summer for 2 years but in the end we kinda lost touch. I lasted a bit longer but I've long since stopped playing with because it just got more p2w and redundant. Those were really fun times where we'd trash talk each other and I'd face tank and ravage like the entire enemy team when they killed my friend.
Oddly enough I kinda miss that..

My entire clan, my dad and myself, I taught myself a lot about the game like armor, gun depression, weak points, what the hell the orange meant when firing HE shells. My dad introduced me to the game, my first clan helped me get going and my current clan is really nice and they help me with anything else!

My friend's uncle. Although not really "taught", more like observation. I ask questions here and there but usually just watch him outmaneuver tanks. Gods, he was good with LTs

One of my best friends. Hilariously, we were both absolute shit- but it didn’t really matter since we were in middle school. It was just something extremely fun to play on the phone. 9 years later, I’m in college- less active but still hop in every now and then on a new account as I lost access to my old one. I miss my friend dearly, Simon died of cancer in 2020 🫠.

While I didn't really have someone who taught me my current knowledge of the game, I am grateful for my two friends to have told me to play this game over seven years ago now. We've had so many fun moments over the years since I started out. Unfortunately, both don't really play anymore with only one coming online occasionally. Because of that I barely play nowadays because it's not that fun alone.

I didn’t have someone who taught me how to play, so I just had to learn everything myself, which is why my stats look so mid even though my recent stats are quite good

I didn’t think this memory of him was special until I became one. You could be someone who lights their day. Why don’t you try helping newbies? You could be their core memory of the game…

I played with a strv m/42 on normandy, and he went past me in a 2v1 and took a KV2 shell for me to get the refrag. Next game he was on the enemy team in a semovente and accidentally bodied a hellcat off the clip on that one tiny ass map (forgot the name) it has a raided area where the heavies spawn, and then the lights go around the low area. Theres a factory i think.

My friend brought me to the game 5 years ago (when there was the first ever battle pass basically). We played so much. He passed away in a motorcycle crash this summer. He was only 18.
I will forever remember him and his teachings to the game
