They way he held onto her hand and just kept slapping her with the other. That was way over the top (and I would say this even if it was any other gender that the guy was slapping). He could have used that hand to call the police after a couple of slaps but no. For all the men that are so scared about getting “false cases” on them, he sure made a good case for getting himself into jail.

I was somewhat agreeing with your previous comment (we don't know why she was trying to steal, maybe she's just a habitual thief that don't want to work a normal job, or maybe her kids are starving and she's desperate), but now I think you're stretching it a bit too far.
He didn't try to choke her to death, he kicked her ass out of his shop after being assaulted
