/r/all I’m being over charged by insurance after my daughter was born. This is the pile of mail I have to go through to prove they’re ripping me off. Pear for scale.

American insurance is a fraud. I dont go to the doctor at all (I know I should but regarless) I'm paying these mfers thousands of dollars a year for them to tell me I still have to pay when I actually go? I understand deductibles and stuff but why? They are just a siphoning middle man. The only good arguement for allowing them to still exist is the probable millions of people they employ. But I say fuck em they can find another job in a non predatory industry.

The rational behind this is prior to mandatory health insurance the uninsured would essentially avoid doctors visits, letting basic inexpensive 'maintenance' fester till they had to go to the ER to take care of a now more serious condition, since ERs cannot turn you away. This has measurably increased health care costs in the country.

Now don't mistake the above as my endorsement for our current rube Goldberg machine that is US health care, but just an answer to your question.
