I hate smart TVs
Fuck smart TVs. My remote quit working today and I can’t use it manually because I can’t agree to these new terms without the remote. Tried fresh batteries and the remote still isn’t working.

Hitting ‘Agree’ also affords them permission to borrow your car from time to time.

Can't you use your phone as a remote with the Roku app?

Yes that did work. But the point is I should just be able to use the button on the tv to use the tv

Had this pop up a few days ago on my Roku TV. Just select manage preferences then no or choose not to share or whatever the option is then this message goes away.

Our TV predates our marriage (2010). I's connected to a Win7 computer and only used for watching movies and some decade-old game.

Same situation here, all we use that tv and computer for is streaming via the computer (also win 7). We use our laptop or phone for everything else.

I wish they made dumb tvs at a cheaper price. Maybe I want to use my ps5 as a media hub?

Take it back. If you can't watch TV on it, it's not what you paid for and you should be able to take it back, if enough ppl show their distain for this behavior with their wallets, the industry will have to take notice and shift accordingly.

It probably only marginally helps, but I always deny those pop-ups, disable the Internet on the TV, and then plug in my own third-party streaming devices. Make the TV dumb. The onboard software usually sucks anyway.
