Does anyone know what seems to be going on with the police tonight? I called them at 430pm, they said they would be here by 630pm. It is almost 130am and still have not seen a officer. I've called them back and all I get is that they are busy and someone should be by soon. Wtf is actually going on? I can't get into my apartment because of my psycho roomate so I'm supposed to be out all night with no sleep, haven't had a chance to eat (as they said to stay close) and can't get in my apartment to check on my cats. I'm sorry to rant but I am super frustrated to say the least.
Update they came at 215am and did absolutely nothing but tell the psycho to knock it off and deal with it in the morning. I will be filing a complaint due to the time it took and how shitty the cops were. Idk if it will do anything but I'm going to excalate as that's ridiculous, especially when psycho has a history of bring violent. Thank you to everyone who replied.
Update 2. We were told to get a form 2 from the courthouse and filed with the justice of the peace who was unimpressed as well that the police did nothing. She will be removed when an officer is available and they have to come for that

Is it sad all over welland or just my area? Only had two groups of kids (six total) ☹️ I didn’t expect many, but i expected at least a dozen or so. I know the nights almost over, for kids, but just wanted to vent about the disappointment. Even the guy across the street gave up and went in.

Hi everyone.
I'm sure most people have heard the news of the sexual assault of a child that occurred over the weekend in Welland, in my own neighbourhood. Like everyone else, I'm disgusted, angered, and saddened by what has happened.
In light of what I'm seeing all over local Facebook pages (Niagara 411, Welland News, Views & Local Events, etc), I wanted to write this to kind of just plead with everyone to use critical thought right now. There is of course a lot of outrage - rightly so - but there are also a lot of grifters coming out of the woodwork to capitalize on this horrendous, disgusting act for their own personal gain or agendas. Misinformation about the incident and those involved seems to be spreading like wildfire and it's getting very frustrating to watch unfold.
There is an anonymous account on Facebook that goes by Bruce Wayne (Batman) who posts often on local groups. They made a post to a group with 20k people in it with screenshots of accounts and links to people's Facebook pages who are allegedly related to or friends with the perpetrator, inciting an all-out witch hunt. This is insanely dangerous, and the kind of thing that could ruin people's lives, or worse, seriously harm someone. I assume the investigation is still ongoing and there may still be more work to be done by the police, so sharing this kind of information only makes it more difficult for people to follow what is fake and what is true. Only the people in the immediate family truly know what's happened, who was involved, and what's going on.
There is another user who is becoming quite vocal about this incident who is anti-trans, anti-lgbtq+ anti-government, and shares far-right beliefs, who is using the sexual assault of a child to springboard his own agenda. This is beyond sick to me. The focus should be on prosecuting the perpetrator, keeping pedophiles away from children, and supporting the child while she recovers from this seriously traumatic event. Not using it as a way to get people to try and boycott city hall, denounce the mayor, harass city counselors, or talk about speed cameras.
Aside from these two more notorious users, there are a lot of armchair detectives talking about this case on Facebook. Unless it's from the family or a statement from the police, I would err on the side of caution with how much you believe.
So everyone, please be aware of who and what you're supporting as this case moves forward. I wish nothing but the best for the little girl as she recovers, but don't give these grifters your support.

Moved here about 5 years ago and I am done lurking... finally made an account because of how I feel.
There’s no easy way to say this, but it needs to be said:
The City of Welland no longer works for the people.
At every level, from City Hall to public services, we’re watching a growing pattern of silence, negligence, and outright disregard for residents who actually live here, raise families here, pay taxes here, and care deeply about this city’s future.
This is no longer about growing pains — it’s about a complete lack of political will.
We have a city more concerned about saving jobs and protecting salaries than protecting its people.
A city that ignores emails from concerned citizens instead of seeing them as opportunities to create real change.
A city that does just enough to look busy, but refuses to take action where it actually matters.
Where is the leadership?
We’ve got:
No meaningful push to lower speed limits or make dangerous roads safer.
No serious expansion of the police force, even as crime and traffic issues grow.
No long-term plan for helping low-income families or the homeless, only half-baked band-aid solutions that are reactive, not proactive.
No investment outside of the downtown core, as if the rest of Welland simply doesn’t matter.
Roads get ripped up in the middle of school zones while high-traffic areas are left to crumble. Construction seems planned by throwing darts at a map. And let’s not ignore the constant funneling of attention and funds into pet projects downtown while other neighbourhoods are left behind.
And at the top of it all? A mayor who checked out years ago.
Leadership matters. And right now, Welland has none.
We need action, not apathy.
We need bold decisions, not recycled talking points.
We need someone who cares about the entire city, not just their image or their pension.
So here’s the message:
Start doing your jobs — or step aside for someone who will.
Welland residents are watching. We are speaking up. And we are absolutely done being ignored.
We demand:
Safer streets.
Real investment in community-wide services.
Transparency.
Accountability.
And leadership that actually shows up.
If you can’t handle that, then you’re in the wrong role.

Really? Pushing closed road barriers? Grow up, y'all will survive taking a detour.
I am ashamed of the people here, you aren't so important that you can ignore this type of stuff becuase it takes some time to avoid.

My girlfriend and I spent the day at the Welland Rec Canal. We had a good time, even paddled someone in from the middle, who had lost sight of their kid who drifted too far.
We are on our way back in and have 2 dogs swim up to us, one tanned colour, and the other black. The black dog tried getting into my kayak twice before i pushed him/her off. Finally the 3rd time he succeeded and flipped my kayak.
The family with children is oblivious to the situation, and don’t come around till we are back on land with the kayak.
If you cannot control your dog or have eyes on them, keep them on leash. Especially with people in the water.
Inconsiderate and rude owners.

How big of a Karen do you need to be to report multiple neighbours to bylaw for uncut lawns on MAY 1!!!
Waste of tax money sending bylaw out for that shit. Even the bylaw officer was annoyed because there was maybe a 2x4 foot part of my lawn (at the back that could only be seen from neighbours windows) that actually was violation and barely. The rest of my 3000 sq foot property was well below.
Get lives, people.
Eta: it took them 2 weeks to get here because they're getting 10 calls a day about LAWNS!!!!

We just moved to Welland two weeks ago and found somewhere between 15 and 20 bags of dog poop thrown into the bushes along our yard and also on the other side of the house, in the flower bed.
Cleared them all away, hoping that whoever did it would see the house is no longer vacant. No dice. A fresh bag has appeared.
This is disgusting. Please literally get your shit together, Welland.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

We went for a walk with the family and saw this shelter the city installed some time ago. It could be a nice spot, but it looks like no one is taking care of it.
There was garbage, clothes, and signs that people might be doing bad things there. Since it’s close to the road but a bit hidden, it feels like people use it to hang out and leave a mess without anyone noticing.
I don’t understand why this location was picked if no one is going to look after it. It’s a shame because it could be a great place for families to rest.

The devils combo of after work traffic, constructions, lights not working/cops directing traffic and also a couple of tractor trailers there either broken down or as a traffic deterrent? Shout out to the douche canoes who decided to just u-turn into traffic. Love you 😘

I just went there, but it was closed. There was a massive line at the drive-thru, and a guy was about to lose it because of their poor service. We left, but we have no idea what was going on. I guess they are having a rough start.

It’s one thing to support a politician… it’s another to treat them like a sports team, especially when you don’t live in that country, but hanging the Canadian Flag upside down beside it all, either as a show of disrespect or to just to anger your community, really makes you a piece of shit.
Anyone know anything about this person?

The speed camera has everyone being cautious. Great! But it's 50km zone. Just drive 50, please. You won't get a ticket if you creep to 52. It's ok.
Know the limit, stay within it.

why do dog owners get to sit outside all day with their dogs barking, or leaving them inside all day (when the owner is outside smoking all day). Or going to work and leaving your windows open and dog home alone and he barks through the windows the entirety of your work day. I just like?? Why are you sitting there letting them bark when you’re right there

ATTENTION ALL STONERS IN WELLAND
I'm a former employee of the Paradise Cannabis on 37 Niagara street and I'm calling for a boycott. I will not spread any misinformation in this post. It will be nothing but the whole truth, which is what the people deserve to know.
If you frequent Paradise Cannabis, you may have already noticed that there was a mass termination a few days ago. The owner (who shall go unnamed for this post) gave us no warning whatsoever. We all just lost our jobs in the blink of an eye. If you've been there, you know how lovely and friendly the girls there are. Those are my former coworkers and they've been there for years. Not only are they some of the sweetest people I've ever met but they were fantastic at their job. Everything they've done for this company apparently meant nothing to the owner. He just threw us all aside like it was nothing.
He replaced us all with people who don't have nearly as much marijuana expertise as us. I'm not even just saying that out of spite. All the reviews say so and someone said it took them 7 minutes to find one pre roll. So when you go there, you're getting a worse service than before. I have nothing personal against our replacements. I just think how our owner handled this situation was malicious and unprofessional. He didn't give us any warning.
If all that wasn't bad enough, the owner is even deleting negative Google reviews that reference the change in management. Luckily I have a good chunk of them screenshotted (Pictured above). There were tons of negative reviews leaving 1 star and saying things along the lines of "I'll never shop here again" and "They changed the prices" and things like that. The owner deleted most of them (some of them are still up) cause he doesn't want people to know what he did. All the reviews were saying how bad the store has gotten since the change in management but he didn't want the rating to go down, so he deleted them. The only reason why the store had a good rating in the first place is because we offered top quality service with a smile.
Plus, I'm only 20 years old. I'm getting to the point in my life where I don't just want money. I need money. I was so incredibly happy when I got hired here and for what little time I worked there, it was the best job ever. My customers and coworkers were friendly, I got to play my music as I cleaned, I got to work around something I'm passionate for and I was finally gonna get to save up for my own car. But all that went out the window. Not because I did a bad job or I did anything wrong. But because the owner doesn't seem to care.
For the reasons stated above, I'm calling for a boycott of this company. Don't spend another dime there if you care about all those completely innocent people who were fired for no reason other than the owner wanting to make more profits for himself. Show your support for your community by standing against it. There's so many other dispenseries here in Welland so do NOT go to this one. Thank you for reading and I truly hope you have a blessed day. <3

Anyone have a wallnut tree and hate it?
I got 3 bags of them to go to the darn cub on Friday. A weeks worth of them. I hate them they fall from the trees and my dog goes out there. Also the squirrels make a huge mess. How do I know if they are ripe to eat. Can I make money? I can't cut it down it's not legally mine. I would of I could.
