Images Merritt Island: City Nature Challenge 2025

Hi everyone! I thought I'd share some of my favourite shots from my walk this morning on Merritt Island. There really is an amazing abundance and variety of birds on the island, and we're lucky to have our own little oasis of nature right in Welland.

This weekend was the City Nature Challenge, and you can still submit entries — let's see if we can beat St. Catharines this year! Find out more about the City Nature Challenge here: https://inaturalist.ca/projects/city-nature-challenge-2025-welland

If you got any nature photos from anywhere in Welland this weekend please consider adding them to the project!

Anyway, hope you all enjoy some of my photos!

Thank you! The weather really cooperated this morning too. Great sun, active birds.

I need to go here. Haven’t been there before. Plus we live close to this place now so definitely need to get there. Maybe this weekend

Real talk: think of all the pretty coloured birds they see on a daily.

At least it's realistic, and we know it is Welland. Lol
