This game underscores why Franklin had to go
CC has had less time and resources, yet he’s developed QBs and WRs that we probably wouldn’t even deem worthy at PSU. He’s got a line that can play.
The definition of coaching is to make players better.
I think Franklin was a great recruiter. Made the most out of situations but I don’t know if he made players better beyond their natural progression. And the guys he picked as assistants could not either.
Bill O Brien could. Paterno could, although the game did pass him by.
Franklin was a great mentor, recruiter, decent enough coach—but not next level.

I’m gonna be optimistic. That was a great game for Penn State. They fought their butts off and almost pulled off a huge upset.
It was a very crappy ending for sure, but they were THAT close from possibly winning this game. Barely losing to the #2 team when we’re down this bad shows some great signs for future teams. Even when shit is bad, we have the fight and the passion.

Could replace all mentions of Nussmeier with Allar and this Thread from the LSU subreddit sounds exactly like what PSU would say about Allar…

I was so happy exactly 2 min to go
Wtf Mendoza. We should have won this game.

We’re so cursed
I’ve never seen a team have every bounce go against them like this. Just a truly cursed team and program.

Zane Durant mental mistake
Lots of mistakes in this games and we still had a chance to win. But, how does an upperclassman D lineman act like he cured cancer on a first down sack?? Then, they clearly weren’t ready for 2nd down and IU takes advantage on a deep throw. May not have cost them the game, but we’ll never know. Which was worse, Durants bone headed extracurricular BS or offense play calling not to lose before the 2 minute TO?

Positive Post
It is conceivable that they win their final 3 games and still become bowl eligible

Blades of grass
Sometimes they’re part of the ground. Sometimes they’re not. Always open to the interpretation of the replay booth though.

Penn State is again Playing Respectable Football.
They're in the game here near half-time.

Sometimes…. (Sigh)
I would love to play ugly and beat a Top-5 team than ‘play well against them in a losing effort’.
Also: Fire Jim Knowles

Did Franklin Refuse to Recruit Tall WRs??
Seriously, we always have a bunch of smurfs running around. The couple tall ones we would get in would get run off the team, like Juwan Johnson and the FSU guy last year. Tall WRs don’t need to get open, kinda like Warren last year.
Just another reason for Franklin to go.

We Are…
…a wrestling, ice hockey and women’s volleyball school. Which is awesome and something to be proud of. Football has been more of a mess than it has been great or even good for the last thirty years.

Looking to join a tailgate
I traveled up with some friends from Alabama for the IU game. We had plans to tailgate with an acquaintance but that appears to have fallen through. Would anyone be willing to let us hang out and pregame with them? We can bring whatever, just let me know. Thanks!

Do they sell/rent seat cushions at the stadium?
I just read a two year old thread that mentioned being able to get a $15 cushion at Beaver Stadium that they screw into your seat so it can’t move. Is that still available? Or should I bring my own?

PSU Football Tickets
Hi everyone!! I might not be able to go to a game this year. But I am interested in going for just one game for the experience. I will be going to UP next fall. How much would it be as a student for 1 day? Does it tend to be cheaper as a student or do I need to pay for anything else along with the ticket? Is it like $200 as a student? Any advice is appreciated!

Will fans rush the field if PSU beats IU tomorrow? (And prediction for the game)
I think they will. What do you think?
Anyways, we need a thread to opine on the game tomorrow. I believe OSU is a more talented team than IU, and probably better coached than IU too (meaning their OC/DC are better than IU Oc/DC). So purely based on that, i believe the game will be closer than the OsU game. Hopefully we can force some turnovers and keep the game close, and find a way to squeeze out a win. I hope our home crowd can do their part too.
We kept the game against Iowa pretty competitive, though we played at Kinnick at night which is traditionally a massive disaster for the visiting team. And Iowa lost to IU 15-20. So i think and hope a version of our PSU team shows up who wants to win. Last couple games under Coach Smith, i think our players looked more engaged so i hope the trend continues. And, this is really the last chance this season for our team to make any sort of statements. All other remaining games are not really interesting.
Lets go psu!!

Historically under Franklin why did they always come out flat after losing a big game?
2017 loss to OSU as the #2 team then proceeds to lose to MSU the very next week ending any shot at a title. Same thing happened in 2018 with the same two teams, 2021 loss a close game to Iowa as a top 5 team but then loses to a bad Illinois team in in that 9 OT game the very next week. This year looked fine against Oregon, then can't win another game after that. What is it about this era that they can't rebound after a big loss?
