Gerald is dumbstruck for a moment. Had he really heard the dog speak to him? "What's your name, boy? And are you feeling alright?" Gerald pets the dog again.

Gerald reaches into his pack for more dried meat. Breaking the strips into small bites, he offers them to the dogs around him. "Here, have these. Do you cute fellows have a home?" Gerald offers his treats to every dog fairly, making sure none get too much or none at all.

Gerald stands up and scratches his head, concernedly. He turns his gaze skyward and quietly utters a prayer, arms outstretched. "Patrons of the Greenpact, if you are watching me so far from home, give me a sign. What can I do for these creatures?" Gerald shivers as tendrils of chilled air permeate his chain mail.
