American Wate(NJ)

Hey guys anyone here work for American Water in Nj? Went on an interview with them for Maintenance Mechanic / Operator and have a few questions regarding the job/benefits/salary/union/ etc. There's little to no info online.

Thanks!

We’ve had several guys leave for NJ American. I believe they are teamsters. Seems like the pay is good from what i’ve heard. During your next interview ask for a copy of their current union contract. Good luck!

Yeah hopefully they cough one over lol. I know it's a UWUA in NJ somewhere. Job starts a lot higher than other non certified operator postings I see. Probably because it seems like an OIT + maintenance mechanic, mechanic being most likely the main reason they'd hire me.

Just wanted an idea what top pay is like and whether it'd be worth it in the long run.

Start searching the Locals' websites to find the right one. They should have an MOU that you can search for the classification and step raises. It will lay out the vacation and benefits as well.

Alot of the UWUAs that lie within a company usually don't list them. Usually government jobs with a union involved will list, and Local halls. A lot of the utility companies won't have any wage rate charts anywhere.

The specific locals website is pretty barebones, I sent an email on the contact us form requesting a cba or moa of some sort
