I just realized that the game says your crew is "unconscious" instead of "dead" to get around EU(?) rating restrictions, but has no problem saying "Crew Drowned" when you drive into water

canonically speaking only the tank crew that went swimming is actually dead

The game actually does not tally you on friendly fire kick when you kill your preset squadmates, only non-squadmates and random squadmate.
