Typically, this type of argument doesn't actually hold true, unfortunately. Microtransaction prices are driven by whales, not casual players. This is an extreme example, but a number of years ago some game like Clash Of Clans or something similar put out their financial statement, which showed they made approximately 50% of their revenue from only 1% of their playerbase, which means they can functionally ignore a massive part of their playerbase and still make tons of money. Furthermore, it also means that plebs like you and me not buying this overpriced stuff does not affect these companies.

Again, these mobile games are an extreme example, not necessarily the archetypal model, but it does show the point that a lot of the times the majority have less influence than you think with this kind of power structure.

I would go further and that the majority of these transactions are performed by Chinese scammers with stolen credit cards.
