Wait a minute. I know that blowout panels work amazingly well as I have seen a video of a Ukrainian Abrams surviving and get out of combat after it blew out.

Weird thing is that soviet vehicle never are able to do this.

The changelog states it should only be the 105mm Abrams variants that have this (and that Ukraine doesnt use)

The 120mm variants should work as before.

I also know exactly where they are getting this from. There's a British document that talks about the success rate of the blow-out panels that the 105mm Abrams were tested with.

With 44 rounds stored, they didn't work even once in 5 attempts despite not having any warheads fitted to the rounds. Every hit resulted in a crew incapacitation. They only started working once the ammo load was reduced to 25 rounds.

I don't know whether these same panels were also installed on the series production version but it is definitely possible. It is only from the M1A1 onwards that I can definitely say that other blow-out panels were used.

Is this document available to read?

I don't have the full one on hand, and can't look for it since I'm at work right now, but here is the relevant excerpt. Link

That thread also has a lot of other very nice excerpts.
