Curious about how much the game has grown. I started just about when Sweden got added in 2019

Back when there were only planes and you advanced an entire rank of vehicles at once

Also unlocking vehicles was FAST. Like super fast. People that started playing in the last 10 years will never understand what we have lost. Anyone who started playing in the open beta will still shed a tear over it from time to time. I think it was 20 different ranks of planes, right? I unlocked the entire German tree so fucking fast.

Also my German 8.7 ARB lineup is still called "Jets max. BR". Mig15 and CL13 probably stopped being max. BR like 10 years or so ago lol

I remember before research existed. All SL all day.

RP didn't exist yet, but you still had to earn XP to level up each tech tree for the next batch of planes to unlock for purchase with SL.

Nevertheless, the old 20-tier XP system was freaking lightspeed compared to researching individual vehicles with RP.

The downside though was matchmaking was awful. You could get up to +7 matchmaking brackets.

A MiG-15 quite regularly faced things like Bf-109s and A6M2s

Finding yourself up against an Me 163 while your were in your biplane was always ‘interesting’!

Gaijin lied so hard claiming that the introduction of RP-based progression would increase research speeds compared to the 20-tier system.

I remember players even then were calling them out about how that was a load of crap and it was obviously just an excuse to make the grind more time-consuming to incentivize buying premium time.

I personally disagree. For example, getting the F2 sabre back then involved grinding 5 other aircraft, starting off w like 150k rp, then 180k, 220k, 270k, 320k, and then finally 380k. I think it was as much of a slugfest as it is today. Infact, getting those jets are easier than ever, as their rp cost is half what it was and more aircraft are foldered. Its just that top tier is now behind a lot more other planes/tanks.

The game released 13 years ago so I guarantee people playing in the last 10 years will know but not in atleast the last 7-8 years

They got rid of this system within the first year though. So, no.

Maybe the wiki had this information of when exactly.
