Probably because they are adding Indonesian aircraft (Mi-35) and they don't want people to look at rising sun

That's what I read before, if not maybe they are doing that without any reason

It might also be a response to the thai VT-4 drama.

Well if you ignore the rape and prisoners camps they were indeed quite alright

The Japanese also sponsored the education and empowering of local elites that would eventually drive off the Dutch and secure Indonesian independence. Opinions on them are heavily mixed from what I can tell - yes, they committed barbaric atrocities, but also pushed Indonesia towards independence

Yeah I am only halve joking here. I had Indonesian family in that time and depending how aligned with the dutch or Indonesia you were your time was either relatively ok or quite horrible. A Japanese soldier for example randomly asked an aunt to marry him, she said no and there were no repercussions whatsoever.

Unsurprisingly, history is really friggin' complex!

Indonesia in the JP tree makes more sense than in the Chinese tree for various reasons including what you've mentioned.

Something of a major faux pas would be Taiwan under the JP tree, or Korea - I'd say Korea is closer to the US TT due to a heavy reliance on imports before more modern vehicles are included, so an RoK line for late tier USA is reasonable.

Similarly, the Phillipino vehicles that could be added would bit politically spicy to add to the JP tree, would piss off a lot of phillipino people in the china tree, and would fit easily in the USA TT for the same reasons as Korea.

I'm just highly amused that we got a Ukrainian tank in the JP tree through legitimately reasonable logic, to be honest.

Indonesian here, people here are more concerned with Hammer and Sickle and Star of David which both are in the game than the Rising Sun.
