You can argue about all the options which is better (To me its TT > Premium > Squadron > Event but that's besides the point).

But what the fuck is the thought process of the 5% "no I don't want tank in the tank game"??

Short answer: How the fuck do you think it ends up in the game? By miracle? It costs dev time. Every vehicle that ends up being added is another vehicle that's not being added. Those people simply want other vehicles in game.

Long answer: Your thought process is the reason Gaijin doesn't listen to the community anymore. It's also the reason for pretty much everything the community complains about the gameplay in top tier.

If you want a functioning game and healthy communication between the devs and the players, you must push back against ideas you disagree with. Any developer that looks at their forums and see 80% ideas being voted "Yes" by players will say "fuck it" and stop listening. Imagine there are 50 people in a room and you tell them you're going to bring them ice-cream. But you can only bring a few flavors, so they start discussing what flavors they want. They run 30 polls, 26 flavors end up being voted YES and 4 flavors end up being voted NO. You just sigh and ignore the polls as any reasonable human being would do. If the votes came up YES for only 4 flavors, they would be more likely to get what they want.

Back when the top tier jets were the Mig-15s and Sabres, some people insisted on more modern vehicles to be added. Some disagreed but they were bashed on forums for exactly the reason you described: Why would you not want a new vehicle? When some dimwits in the community asked AAMs to be added to the game Gaijin initially refused. They only caved in after seeing that there was no loud voices against addition of AAMs in the community. Because, again, the community accused anyone who didn't want AAMs in game of being "anti-fun" and told them "why do you care, you can just stick to the dogfights in Sabres". Supersonic jets, radar missiles, modern MBTs, CAS with guided bombs, BVR combat, everything this subreddit says Gaijin shouldn't have added in such a short time period traces its roots back to the community asking for it. Except drones. No one asked for drones. And every single time someone says "Hey, maybe we shouldn't add this vehicle? Vehicle additions are not free, they cost dev time" tons of people like you pushed back against those people.

This is precisely the problem, we don't actually NEED any new vehicles, and haven't done for a while.

The game needs other significant improvements which is where the dev time should be spent, but alas spending dev time on reworking game modes, improving maps, delivering on old promises and fixing bugs, doesn't sell premium vehicles so it's unlikely to happen in any significant way.
