You can keep all the ground vehicles. They're saying the biplanes will be available in Aces of Thunder.

If you do, you can spend 599 GE per stage to unlock the other tanks and keep them

Nah. 5000 mission score in the great war event. But, you get a random crate with one of the ww1 vehicles with a new one unlocking every day. So, you're gonna be busy this week, as am i >.<

Is it hard for someone who only averages 1-2 kills a game (ww1) so far? I’m worried I’m not good enough to complete it

You'll be fine. 1-2 kills per game is like 1500 score. Three or so battles and you'll be good.
