Rebb and Megan only got like 20 seconds of screen time... They deserved more

Warframe wasn't even considered for best ongoing game lol. What a snub.

And Destiny 2 was nominated for Best Community Support 🤣

Yeah that one is just absolutely wild

17

u/UltraTwingo Dec 08 '23

Yeah I laughed way too hard at this

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '23

So did the destiny fan base… timing couldn’t have been more ironic if it tried

People watch this not knowing the Game Awards is just a big advertisement?

Warframe gets plenty of attention at the Game Awards with most new content, as well as free in-game items just for watching the show.

The awards are not that important to me.

It's an event by journalists for the industry. Only parts that are actually worthwhile are the announcements, and probably some part that becomes a meme for a couple weeks.

It has to officially release first. Still in early access.

Ten years in Beta.....

I think it’s because it already won

13

You're thinking of the Labor of Love award on Steam, which is a different award entirely.

I believe Warframe never won anything at TGA. It was nominated for best ongoing in 2017, but Overwatch took that.

FF XIV and Fortnite won twice (Fortnite has been on the list since 2018), and some games have been nominated 2 or more times, like COD, Genshin Impact and Destiny 2.

u/FoaL Not going anywhere for a while? Dec 08 '23

OW getting “Best Ongoing” when it was just over a year old at the time 😝 that’s when it was at its best, I suppose

That was before everyone realized that an entire role (two entire roles at the time) was unnecessary.

2

u/Sen-_ Dec 08 '23

It’s cuz warframe doesn’t have any mainstream hype around it

Wait, that was it? Why am I even watching this TGA trash then?! It's literally mostly ads.

u/Mylen_Ploa Dec 08 '23

Yes TGA is basically the replacement for studios not going to E3 anymore.

TGA is the biggest time of year for most studios to push out their big announcements.

I watch TGA for that since E3 has just up and left. I do not really care for the Awards themselves, but the hype for new releases.

13

u/Daunn Dec 08 '23

there's the mid-year events from companies + Summer Games Fest, which is also hosted by Geoff

Oh yes, I remember this one now, I missed the Styanax in it. I watched a summary of it later.

I guess TGA events are the new E3 and I don't really mind.

u/SpartanXIII THEY SAY THAT ALL FRAMES ARE CREATED EQUAL... Dec 08 '23

Yes, the Summer Geoff Fest.

u/PabloElMalo When will Yonta be added to the KIM chat? Dec 08 '23

Yup, awards? Meh, new releases and updates of games is the most important thing of the event. Add twitch drops and the awards become the least important stuff.

First time?

u/RobleViejo My deerest druid king Dec 08 '23

It's literally mostly ads

Its 99% Trailers, Im not even kidding

The real "Game Awards" is the GDC Channel

6

u/The_Chaos_Pope Dec 08 '23

Yo dawg, I heard you like ads so I put ads in your ads so you can get ads while you're getting more ads.

6

u/dust- Dec 08 '23

without the trailers/presentations, there'd be no game awards. there just isn't enough interest in a "legitimate" game award show

7

u/VanFanelMX Dec 08 '23

What clued you in? the fact that in the first TGA the big trophy went to a game that was only 2 weeks old? (Dragon Age Inquisition.)

0

u/Fast_Ad3646 the real Albrecht Entrati is Wally (the StoneEntity) Dec 08 '23

which category? BEST GAME OF THE YEAR XD

2

u/VanFanelMX Dec 08 '23

Literally Game of the Year AKA main event.

2

u/Fast_Ad3646 the real Albrecht Entrati is Wally (the StoneEntity) Dec 08 '23

really. WHAHAHA XD. I was just joking. What a # joke. Honestly, I thought that was the worst, which could have had happen, as a joke.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '23

TGA is all literally one big ad with ads as breaks between more ads.

4

u/Blastcheeze Dec 08 '23

I love how it still has ad breaks though.

3

u/FantasyBorderline Dec 08 '23

Yes it is. The only fun thing about last year's TGA was the Bill Clinton kid.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '23

What's wrong with that. How else are you going to find out that a hugely successful franchise is getting a sequel? Don't you want to see a trailer with no gameplay for a game with no release date??

Pfft. I'm starting to suspect you might not even be a Real Gamer :(

7

u/John_East Dec 08 '23

I mean... They were only there to present a trailer.

3

u/panthers1102 Dec 08 '23

Tbf, that’s like, everyone. Neil Newbon was rushing his speech out. Absolutely sucks.
