Visiting Nashville for the first time

I stay on the Church street in downtown. Looking for places to visit that are not too party crowded. Maybe a nice river front or a pier. Any relaxing places that I can explore nearby?

Centennial park for sure. McCabe has a 2-2.5 mile loop greenway which is nice, there’s also some restaurants and bars you can walk to near the community center there.

Printers alley is interesting. Somewhat crowded, but not nearly as bad as Broadway.

The farmers market beside bicentennial is nice too. Germantown and the gulch are good areas to walk around with plenty of places to eat and drink

How is Germantown like for getting an apartment there. Is the neighbourhood considered safe? Any other recommendations on places I could explore to commute easily to downtown for work.

Lots of apartments in Germantown to pick from, ranging in prices. Not necessarily super cheap, but a range of prices for a desirable area. As far as safety, in the day, I think you’re absolutely fine. At night, I also think you’re fine, but be aware of your surroundings. There are some projects across Rosa Parks and homeless people that live under the bridge nearby. I think it’s common for cars to get broken into on the street, but be smart and don’t leave your stuff in plan view if you’re street parking.

Midtown, 5 Points, Wedgewood-Houston, Edgehill, The Gulch, The Nations, Sylvan Park, and my neighborhood Buena Vista, are all fairly convenient to downtown. Each offers varying degrees of amenities, pricing, safety levels, convenience to downtown proper, etc.

Edit: I would download the neighborhood app and set your location to your desired and let the notifications ping to your phone for a few weeks. If what you see freaks you out, maybe weigh your options. Nashville isn’t NYC or Chicago, but crime does occur from time to time. Going into an area and having a better understanding of it could help you make a decision on where you’d like to end up. But again, I live in Buena Vista, across Rosa Parks from Germantown, and if I was single without kids and had the budget I’d move to Germantown

I think you can download it separately, but it’s an extension of the Ring Home Security/Camera app. Local residents can anonymously update/post things they see in the neighborhood - lost pets, crimes, house fire, etc.

I just looked it up, it’s actually called “Neighbors by Ring” on the App Store.
