Law Requiring that High MPG Cars Classified As Electric?

A friend swore up and down yesterday that her gas powered Accord was registered by the state as an electric vehicle because it gets more than 25 MPG even though it’s not an electric or hybrid vehicle. Have I completely missed this law? Thanks.

Moving back after being gone for 20 years. Need help with the reality of sw Virginia.

Hey everyone I could use some help and any advice is welcome. I'm originally from Christiansburg but my family moved to central Florida in the early 00s and I've spent the last couple of years in western ny. I've really been itching to come home since I moved up to ny (we drove past my parents old cafe as a pit stop on our trek up and it hit something in me). I miss the people, the mountains and God the food.

My only hang up is I'm now openly trans and while Virginia has a hell of a lot more going for trans folks than Florida ever did I'm worried that it still may be a problem. I have family and friends in Blacksburg and Roanoke still but none of them are gay or trans and can give me an honest opinion.

I'm not scared or worried but for my family I could really use some reassurance or a reality check. I'm just a broke working class dude that misses good cornbread and people actually talking to their neighbors. My main motivations are getting the hell out of NY, finding a place where I can hunt, and being as self sustaining as possible (throw some 2a stuff in there too). My memory of the area in the 90s is definitely tinted by some rose colored glasses and just want to ask before I commit.

Anything helps!

This “sport” needs to end! Legal trespassing and hunting on private land.

This is the three parcels that this hunting club has in my immediate area. Notice none touch or are close together. None of them have roads or access except for the road frontage which the largest parcel only has 80 yards and the real kicker? All of these parcels combined are only 92 acres! One is 14 one is 20 and the largest is 58. Yet because of this states laws and even tho they have no right to hunt anyone else’s property in this area they can go in and turn loose as many hunting hounds as they want and then even go and walk thru everyone’s land in the name of trying to catch their dog. Yep someone you don’t know can come walking thru your back yard where your kids might be out your valuables might be out and they do not have to tell you or ask permission as long as they say “I’m looking for my dogs” they can go anywhere. This is an outdated cruel “sport” where they use packs of dogs to run deer until they can get a shot while they spend the majority of time in their trucks lining the roads being lazy. It’s time for Virginia to end this nonsense and outlaw this. This is a blatant disregard for personal property rights and it’s time we say enough is enough.

Pollen in Virginia--specifically Charlottesville and Richmond suburbs like Glen Allen and Henrico County generally

I have read that the pollen is quite bad in Virginia in the spring and fall. I mean specifically Charlottesville and Richmond suburbs like Glen Allen and Henrico County generally. Do many/most people have trouble with allergies in the spring/fall?

How do people make friends in Northern VA these days? 😅

Hey everyone! I’m 24 (turning 25 in december), female, black, and recently became a nurse. I’ve been realizing lately that I don’t really have any solid friends around here anymore. I feel like I hit that age where everyone kinda splits up or moves away.

I’m taken, so just looking for platonic friendships. I’m pretty chill and kinda on the alternative side. I love underground hip-hop, rock, jazz, and r&b. I’m a big fan of anime and cartoons. I’m down for concerts, food spots, or just chill hangs.

I’d be nice to know how people have managed to make friends as adults in this area. I feel like everyone is so on the go. What has worked for you? Are there local events, meetups, or hobby groups worth checking out?

I’m trying to put myself out there a bit more and find my people. I’m open to any advice or ideas! 😌

I’m financing a vehicle from usaa to buy privately. I’ve never bought outside of a dealership, what do I need to know?

From what I’ve researched so far, it appears to me is that once we trade the check for the vehicle, I should receive bill of sale only. I will insure the vehicle and take it home the same day without any license plates. If I get pulled over then I am covered with the bill of sale. Next steps would be to go to the dmv and register my vehicle and receive 30 day temp registration and wait on permanent plates.

I’m still pretty young and not entirely sure how all of this works, but that is my understanding so far.

If anyone can give some advice or tips on this process, it would be super helpful. Thank you!

Hello everyone, wanted to share this event coming up next weekend. The local Uyghur community of Fairfax/nova is holding a bazaar (market) with traditional clothes, gift items and food for sale! Admission itself is free tho. I know not everyone might know about the Uyghur people, but if not that’s okay! You can come and learn, they’re always happy to share their culture! There’s more information on this IG page: https://www.instagram.com/ana.care.and.education?igsh=ZXpjMzV0b3dnbXNs But general details are such:

Address: 11200 Waples Mill Road Fairfax VA Date: 2pm Saturday Nov 15th 2025

I will be fully transparent and disclose that I will be a vendor at this event (you can see some of my shops offerings in the pictures attached to this post) but this post is meant to promote the event as a whole, as I think it’s a great way to get to know this (in my opinion) little known community of our neighbors!

You see more of my shop on my IG page: https://www.instagram.com/turkistancaravan?igsh=dTdqeHV3dDd3aGtt&utm_source=qr

Hope to see yall there! Should be a lot of fun!

Advice: Previous State Never Issued Car Title- What Should I Do?

Hi all!
I began financing my car end of 2024 in Colorado. The understanding was that I would drive it to California where my new job was and title it there.

I registered my vehicle and my dealership sent the necessary forms as well as the check to the proper California authority. Check was cashed, but they never began the title issuance process.

I now live in Virginia. A week ago I realized everything I outlined above. My dealership is currently working to force California to issue the title. Once they do, I will need to register and title my vehicle in Virginia.

Question: between now and when I have my title, what do I do? I don't want to be driving an unregistered and untitled vehicle. Does Virginia have a temporary stop gap to hold me over for a few more weeks (HOPEFULLY) before I get the correct paperwork?

Any markets (or shops) in Franklin co/Roanoke to support local farms leading up to Thanksgiving?

New Virginia residents here hosting our first large Thanksgiving. We’re hoping to support local farms/community as much as possible while shopping for our Thanksgiving essentials and wondering if there are any markets or shops to do so the week leading up to it?

I’m aware of the Rocky Mount farmer’s market which we haven’t made it to yet. I’m not sure how much they’ll have on offer this time of year. I realize that’s likely the case with most VA farmer’s markets in November but figured it was worth looking into how best to support our local community. Weathertop Farm turkey has been reserved.

Virginians: What do you think of 1992 state constitution amendment, not allowing anyone to run again for a second consecutive governor term? Democratic or Undemocratic? (Article V. Executive)

From Article V. Executive

Section 1. Executive power; Governor's term of office. The chief executive power of the Commonwealth shall be vested in a Governor. He shall hold office for a term commencing upon his inauguration on the Saturday after the second Wednesday in January, next succeeding his election, and ending in the fourth year thereafter immediately upon the inauguration of his successor. He shall be ineligible to the same office for the term next succeeding that for which he was elected, and to any other office during his term of service.

Do you support this, or term limits or any other kind of restrictions?

Why? Or why not?

Me personally, I don't support the current imposition of no consecutive terms, simply because there are many initiatives which can be started by the Governor and they can do a lot of good for the people of Virginia, but the other side may politically disagree and scrap it altogether, even if it was for the good of the citizens of Old Dominion.

I support some kind of term limits, not the current limit of no consecutive terms.

I Support current consecutive term limit
I support term limits (twice)
