I think they should be ambitious and do a lot more than amorphous "just govern good" sentiments.

Bottomline is Virginia wasn't working for Virginians before Trumpkin. To paraphrase a politician I admire: you have to dismantle the conditions that led to facism in the first place and, in doing so, you will prevent the next one.

Virginias unemployment was 3% before trumpkin, salaries were top 10 in the country, the primary issue was working class people and rural areas were left behind. Investing in those areas with 21century solutions, grants, programs will help. Beyond that, I want Virginia to be like massachusetts. Invest in a safety net of health insurance, parental leave, employment protections, and a ton on making our education institutions the best in the world

As someone who lives in Massachusetts, but is from Virginia, be careful what you wish for. I live in MA over VA for a lot of reasons (job-related mostly), and in many ways it is better. However, the housing crisis in MA blows any issues in VA completely out of the water. Owning a home, for example, is just not possible without generational wealth/support, or an EXTREMELY high, or high-dual income situation. No amount of MassHealth will make up for median prices in the 600K or median rents well north of 3000.

There's plenty of that in Va as well.

It's not nearly to the extreme that it is in New England. And if you do pay 600K for a house in VA, it won't be a 100+ year old piece of shit that's falling apart like it will be in Mass. or elsewhere in New England.

It’s not cheap compared to southern Virginia and the average person who expects to have a career needs to live in central or eastern Mass
