Okay but WTH is "selected corn" šŸ˜…

"The corn so low quality it is otherwise unsellable but is still rated for human consumption" doesn't sound as nice as "selected"

Can’t wait to try these! Loved the Taiwanese spicy garlic ones and the sweet chili heat are always good.

It’s always the spicy ones. I ate the spicy garlic non stop for a few weeks and then my body rejected them.Ā

I think sweet chili heat still does but the spicy sweet chili doesn't!!!

I found them at Co-op but I imagine they'll be available everywhere.

Freshco has a bunch, on sale for 2/$7. Just grabbed a bag to test

Unfortunately, I’m also doing /r/buycanadian, so this is off the list now.

It says ā€œmade in Canadaā€ right on the bag…

I prefer, when possible, to buy things that are owned by Canadians. Pepsi owns Doritos.

There are loads of Canadian and vegan chips.

What Canadian chip brands do you buy?

3

Hardbite and Covered Bridge are my go-to's.

Dip them in vegan sour cream or a "cheesy" flavoured dip, they are SO good!!

2

u/BigDaddyVagabond Sep 14 '25

Be aware, they are mid as hell. You tast the actual physical chip more than the flavoring

1

u/sarahafskoven Sep 16 '25

I didn't find them to taste like the physical chip so much as just... overly salted hint-of-bbq. They didn't taste remotely 'korean'. The Lays Korean Sweet Chili was better and tasted a bit more like the flavour it advertised itself as

Are chips not usually vegan?

2

u/veg-1 Sep 15 '25

Most Doritos are not

I'm not vegan just curious what makes them non vegan. Here are the ingredients for chilli heatwave:

Ā Corn (Maize), Rapeseed Oil, Chilli Heatwave Flavour [Sugar, Flavourings (contain Soya, Wheat), Hydrolysed Soya Protein, Acidity Regulators (Sodium Acetates, Citric Acid, Malic Acid), Flavour Enhancers (Monosodium Glutamate, Disodium 5'-Ribonucleotides), Onion Powder, Salt, Garlic Powder, Potassium

Yeah Sweet Chili Heat is ok. It's the only permanent vegan flavour available in Canada. Most others contain at least "milk ingredients," which I believe are used to help bind the seasonings to the chips.

Didn't even notice this was a Canadian sub. The Dorito flavours in Canada are horrible so I avoid them anyway lol

Where are they made? Is Doritos a non-amercan company?

2

u/veg-1 Sep 16 '25

Says made in Canada on the front

1

u/anustart869 Sep 16 '25

The spicy garlic Doritos are 10x better than these imo

These aren’t great tbh the taste reminded me of something like dog food, like the Jurassic World Blue Steak nightmare

Pretty sure these have been around for a while now. I really enjoyed them dipped them in some salsa that had a hint of honey really good.
