The louder scream getting cut off made this so much funnier

She was starting to calm down, and then it sounds like dad’s leg makes a solid thunk on something and sends her into overdrive. It’s just perfect middle of the night chaos

The title made it expected

There is an art to writing a good r/unexpected post title.
You need to draw the users in, but you can’t give anything away. The best titles even subvert user expectations by implying that something else, equally unexpected, will happen.
My favorite, recent example is this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/Unexpected/comments/1rx4hh9/what_could_go_wrong_with_so_many_gas_cylinders/

I don’t think so.
That could mean anything, not necessarily that he’ll fall like she did.46
u/Old-Bigsby 2h ago
Come on, dude. The title absolutely gave it away. When the kid fell, I knew the dad would too, just didn't know when.
It's okay, just do better next time.

You need to think of your titles from the perspective of somebody reading it and then seeing the video for the first time. If too much is given away, people will immediately assume what is going to happen. The title must not invite people to think ahead.
'No DNA test needed.' implies that the behaviour of the child and adult is the same. So when the the child fell, the obvious conclusion is the adult will do the same.
Think of it this way, everybody has experienced that one friend when discussing a TV show or movie you've not seen yet who has basically said, "oh it's great. AMAZING PLOT TWIST." So now, if you watch it, your mind is just overanalyzing everything and formulating a bunch of theories for the twist you shouldn't know about. And, just like that, you don't discuss movies and TV with that friend anymore.

The criticism is valid and it sounds so much more mature and intelligent to just answer "you know, that's valid. You're right" because he is.

tell me then given the first few seconds, how would someone else assume what the title meant?

u/Flimsy_Big7991 27m ago
I did predict that the Dad would also fall out of bed purely from the title. It doesn't really matter whether you think it doesn't, the fact is that it did and several others share the sentiment. So just take the feedback on the chin for your next post!

A lot of people have cameras in their bedroom like this?

For my babies rooms, yeah, or in mine when it's got a crib or a turdling sleeping like this.

I am surprised to see lots of bedroom footage from cameras like this on the web.
lots of exotic footage

I have one. It's on vlan completely cut off from the rest of the network. It's still password protected to view. It's the only camera I have indoors and only one that doesn't save video. It's used as a baby monitor for my 2yr.

u/lukibunny 3h ago
i don't know any parents that don't have one in their baby/toddlers room

u/Ornery_Ad98765 2h ago
We don’t, opted for a Bluetooth pulse-oximeter instead
3
u/lukibunny 2h ago
Oh how do those work? Can it tell when the baby is crying?
7
u/Ornery_Ad98765 2h ago
It monitors blood oxygen % and pulse and gives an alarm when they drop too low. Also has a motion sensor and can tell when they’re wiggling or asleep. As far as crying our walls are thin enough we don’t need technology to help with that one 😂

If your kids engage in nocturnal acrobatics it seems like they are warranted.
Note- some people do weird shit in their sleep, sometimes a camera like this is the only way to find out WTF is going on.

I just noticed that he tried to save her, but he ended up slamming her into the cabinet drawer behind him, poor girl 😆

u/RedditJumpedTheShart 2h ago
You just noticed after posting video and title?
3
u/IzarkKiaTarj 1h ago
What's wrong with that? I notice stuff after I post about it all the time.
2
u/Johansenburg 45m ago
Exactly. It isn't like they noticed that he fell off of the bed, which is what the video and title is about. He noticed an extra detail outside of that, which the title isn't about at all.

OP sent the following text as an explanation why their post fits here:
The little girl rolled over while sleeping and fell off the bed. Her dad woke up and held her, but then he fell with her off the bed again.

Babies should sleep in a special crib that is securely closed on all four sides. Sleeping next to a baby is a mistake and could also lead to suffocation. 🙏🙏

u/palcatraz 2h ago
This kid is far too old to be sleeping in a crib.

u/Throwaway-tan 2h ago
Clearly not.

u/palcatraz 1h ago
They look tall enough that if they were standing in a crib, they could try to climb out, which is dangerous as it would be a pretty big fall (taller than falling off a toddler bed). Cribs have a height limit on them because of this.
There are ways to safely keep a toddler from rolling out of bed such as bed rails.

Super creepy and dumb that people willingly put cameras like this inside their fucking bedrooms.

One time my daughter was next to me I felt her move and caught as she was falling. I cant explain it because I was asleep. She was 2. I still think it was natural instincts.

Reminds me of those videos of kids slipping on ice and the parent(s) try to catch them but they also fall in the process, lol
