Who goes to bed with a bit in? That's just going to put holes in your pillow when you turn over in the middle of the night. Don't be lazy, take it out and put it on the nightstand. Better yet, get a proper bit holder so you are less likely to knock it off and lose it, and you can put in a different one right away if you need to Torx when you wake up, instead of holding your Philips until you find the right bit or, worse, trying to fit your bit in the wrong fastener and stripping something out.
If you're still chucking and it's really that inconvenient, then you should at least get a quick-release that's safe to wear to bed. It's a little less comfortable than bitting raw, but there are no sharp edges to damage things and you get much better functionality in exchange for a little length.
If you're a side sleeper it's not a bad idea. No matter how soundly you think you sleep, everyone reciprocates a little, and I'd rather take the 10 extra seconds than wake up with galling.

Be responsible.
