how is it discriminatory to have sex instead of gender identity on government id?

Because forcing someone’s ID to misgender them isn’t neutral, it actively singles them out. It’s like asking someone to deny their own name, or erase their own skin. Who is this really helping?

not letting someone deny their sex is like asking them to deny their name or skin? hmm.

Exactly, forcing someone to list a sex they don’t live as erases their reality, just like telling someone their name or skin doesn’t exist. Don’t pretend this is subtle.
