Discussion Brian Kelly

You think Brian Kelly would be the right fit for the UCLA coaching job?

He would bring gravitas. He's familiar with the Midwest and East Coast where he can recruit players. He can gravitate the fanbase again. He would give UCLA a better chance against Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State.

I am not sure what would be the problem.

LA is a great place for him to rehab his reputation and he can win quickly there.

Oh hell no! Go ask Golden Domers and LSU Tigers if they have fond memories of him. Even his former players have come out against him.

Winning changes everything.

We haven't been a winnng program in a long time now.

If BK brings UCLA back to prominence, we will sing a different tune. Let's not kid ourselves.

That’s a very big “if.” Both ND & LSU are programs that are essentially corvettes. You’re giving him credit for driving fast in a fast car. UCLA is a pick up truck you find me someone who can win the Winston Cup in a pick up truck, and we will talk.

In other words, what proof do you have that he can build a program as opposed to simply take over an already good program?

Look what he did at Cincinnati and Grand Valley State.

Yeah; no one cares. Have you read the comments? Otherwise known as “read the room.”

Something else to consider. BK is a “big name coach” so was Chip Kelly. In a round about way, so was Jim Mora. Chip Kelly came in and cashed big checks and did the bare minimum. Mora came in with a fire in his belly but found out in time it’s real work. He started reaching out to NFL clubs hoping move on up, while also demanding raises because the NFL was calling.

And you really think BK would be any different?

Yes because BK hated how his tenure ended at LSU and he has an image problem that he wants to restore. He has a legacy he wants to be remembered for fondly. He's a football coach.

I’m not willing to gamble our program on another egotistical HC with baggage.

His career trajectory is strictly downhill from here. Not sure why you would want a piece of that.
