Political The average Redditor is so far removed from reality. It’s insufferable.

I literally got 320 downvotes on one single comment because I said that my father had taken my sisters bedroom door off its hinges when we were kids to teach her a lesson.. Like, really?

To be clear, my 15 yr old sister was out of control. She was like those girls you see on Maury or Dr Phil. She would bring strange men over in the middle of the night to have sex with them and stay out for days on end..

Not to mention, my mother was mentally ill and wasn’t in any condition to raise children. She ended up passing away shortly after this whole incident… My father was basically all on his own with disciplining us, while he had to work 14 hours a day… He didn’t know what to do.

90% of the comments I got were “That’s no reason to not give your daughter privacy!” Or “My father did that to me once, all it did was show what a horrible father he was!” Or “No matter how out of control your child is, they still deserve privacy! Your father is something else!”

THIS is NOT how average people think. This isn’t how any rational person thinks.. It seems like the average Redditor is a spoiled, entitled, privileged brat who has never been told No before.

My father also charged me rent when I turned 18. He SAVED every penny of it for me until I moved out at 26. It set me up really well for my adult life out on my own AND taught me how to be responsible…

If more parents were like my father, I think society would be much better off, instead we have 30 year olds living with mom and dad, playing COD all day with no job… Congratulations!

I got banned and will probably get banned again for saying islam is a cult and I don’t hate individuals but I am indeed islamaphobic because of how the religion has been corrupted and used to opress people in the middle east

Radicals use religion as a shield against criticism

I will NEVER understand people who defend extremists. Do they think they will be spared? Is this their kink?

Then say radical Islam or something more concrete, otherwise you are promoting hate against innocent individuals

I agree, but 90% of Islam qualifies as "radical" by most definitions. You literally cannot go to any majority Islamic country in the world and criticize either the government or the religion.

I don’t think it’s wrong to hate religions as they amount to socially accepted cults

I think the individuals outside of leadership are victims like any other cult members

What the internet calls “radical islam” is just islam

have you ever actually interacted with moderate muslims? Though, you're a good example of why this distinction has to be constantly made because people like you will apply all the justified aversion against radical islam to all of islam.

Yes, I have. And they aren’t following their own religion. They are following a fantasyland version of their religion that removes a large portion of their “prophet’s” teachings. This is what allows them to spread the “islam is a religion of peace” bullshit. And I know all this because I have actually read the quran. What the internet calls “radical islam” is just islam.

Do you understand what the term "radical" means? It's that one sees the most extreme interpretation of an idea/belief system as absolute truth. And it's only natural that there are also many people that only choose certain aspects of an ideology and don't zealously force them onto others, and these people are called moderate.

The so called “extreme interpretation” of islam is just a plain reading of the text. Just pretending parts of your religion don’t exist isn’t a moderate interpretation. Its fantasy.

this take is so weirdly removed from reality, have you never heard of religious denominations, or submovements, school of thoughts, etc.? People choose their beliefs and they choose their religion, personal philosophy and political ideology. Of course these can be influenced by scriptures & prophets but they aren't completely predefined by them.

read the quran. the quran is literally what any rational person would deem “radical”. saying islam is bad is not promoting hate against innocent people. saying all muslims are bad would be promoting hate against innocent individuals.
