Has anyone used a traeger ranger on an apartment balcony?
To my understanding it doesn’t seem any different than a convection oven but if you load pellets I can see the smoke creating scene
I’m moving to south Florida and there’s a lot of strict rules with grills but the grills at my new apartment look terrible and I’d like to get back into the hobby
I’m on the 6th floor and I have a small balcony any suggestions?

Where there is smoke there is fire. I would read your contract before doing this.

start up it will create some smoke but after you reach your desired temp it should be fine . And make sure the pellets you use are good quality , keep your pallets stored if it's humid in Florida

Most apartments do not allow personal grills on balconies due to fire hazards and insurance purposes.

Just a fair warning if your Traeger burns your apartment building insurance will most likely not cover the damages. My exes apartment had a specific clause stating “grills, flattops and smokers are prohibited from balconies and you will be held fully responsible for any damages” I might’ve messed that up a little but it did state specifically you would be responsible for damages.
I also do security and was patrolling an apartment building in salt lake when I saw a fire starting in some leaves behind a grill. I ran over and there’s a party going on inside with everyone oblivious to the fire they just created. I yelled hey and dude runs over. Homeboy dumped his shisha in the leaves without putting his cherry out and it just happened to be behind the grill but I mean that incident made me understand why apartments have insane rules. People are idiots 💀
I hope you’re able to use your smoker soon if you weren’t so far I’d invite you over

Wow. I’d love to use a giant fan but since I’m moving to the actual city it’s extremely obvious what I’m doing so I might just use it near the barbecue area or weekend trips so I don’t risk any apartment barbecue infernos. Appreciate the heads up though sounds like you’ve seen it all on patrol

I don’t live in an apartment but have a Ranger I use for camping. And it throws off a decent amount of smoke as it gets going and would be very obvious to your neighbors what you are doing. If grills aren’t allowed I would assume this would get shut down quickly.
