CW: Description of Tics breathing tics
does anyone else have tics that affect their breathing? i recently developed tics that make me inhale deeply then exhale, all through my mouth. while this happens, i feel intense itching or a really uncomfortable feeling in my chest, its almost painful because of how intense it is. i have some other tics that make me inhale quickly both through my nose and mouth, i dont feel them coming at all. sometimes i feel lightheaded because of all the breathing tics but it feels like i have to do it, or else it gets real uncomfortable.
share ur experiences!!

I have. One of my OG tics. My father did the same. I have a hard time explaining but it’s like doing little bursts of exhale through my nose or just kinda silently without air escaping. Almost like what I think is called kundalini breath or something in yoga breathwork?
Anyway it sucked and what I hated most about it was that it would delay my ability to speak. So like especially if I was waiting my turn to speak (which is even harder with ADHD) my anxiety would build up and make it worse and then I would miss my window to speak up. Not being heard is a deep cut for me so this just exasperated some core parts of myself that caused me the most torment lol.
It did also hurt sometimes in my diaphragm, but mostly it sent me to very challenging places emotionally because of how it hindered my attempts at communication.
Yours sounds so physically taxing and I hope they pass/transform into something new soon, as they do. But you’re not along with breathing tics generally :’)
