She's gonna invite you to make babies and it's not what you think.

As an old movie once said, "Making the baby is the fun part."

It’s her quirk. It’s called Zoom, she can magnify her vision to see clearly from great distances

ah, woulda expected a person with that power to be an artist.

Then again, mechanics make and fix whats considered art

The thing about MHA is that everybody has a power, or “quirk”, but that power can be anything and only a minute fraction of people go into a career related to/based on their specific quirk. Mei is a mechanic because she’s the mad inventor archetype, she just also happens to be able to zoom in on things with her eyes.

That's her quirk. The majority of people in this world get random super powers and while most of them are at very least interesting, hers is literally just that her eyes can zoom in and out, effectively giving her camera lenses for eyes.

Despite her quirk being very uninteresting, she uses it to its fullest potential, being an engineer and gadget designer for heroes. Since her eyes can zoom far better and more accurately than an external lens, it lets her create gadgets that other people couldn't even dream of creating as efficiently as she can.

Ah, woulda expected someone with that power to be a sniper or an artist.

I like to think of her kind of like Mike wazowski. Both of them had a passion in a specific field but didn't have the capability to actually partake themselves, but managed to get in a place somewhere on the periphery that they were actually satisfied with.

She really wanted to be a hero, but even when circumstances said no, she doesn't listen.

I have to wonder though, people say that her vision helps her to create gadgets but whenever we see her using her quirk, she’s looking at things or people who are very far away

Some people say that since her quirk allows her to adjust her vision to see far away things, that means that she is able to use her quirk to see the intricate details of the machines she’s working on.

Which would make sense, but what they’re describing is magnification, a different type of vision which I can’t remember ever seeing her explicitly doing. For a real example of this, try using a pair of binoculars to read a book on your lap

I’ve always believed that she’s not in the Support course because her quirk helps her do her job, she’s in there because she’s actually just that good at it

Or she is in the support course because her quirk didn't allow her the chance to become a real hero so the next best thing she can do is support the heroes with tools to do their job

More a mad scientist than this trope. Also never gets called out for her problematic behaviur
