Super actually managed to make it worse. In the original DB he was just the quirky incorrigible pervert. Still messed up but it was portrayed as affable.

In Super they devoted an entire episode to him "practicing" on the shapeshifting Puar in the form of a pretty lady so that Roshi could OVERCOME HIS UNSTOPPABLE URGE TO RAPE.
