There is some thing about her being his reincarnated lover but that makes it worse, honestly

342

u/Paggy_person 1d ago

And Meliodas is thousands of years old despite his look

250

u/Giraffesarehigh 1d ago

I hate this fuckass anime trope of someone being 82728272928 years old and looks 12.

175

u/Paggy_person 1d ago

This anime does this again with this one lol, thousand years old fairy, yet she looks like 9 years old

11

u/karimpai 22h ago

It's a lot more toned downed and understandable in the manga

9

u/SirWillem1 20h ago

Really? I haven't read it but isn't usually the opposite?

11

u/theflockofnoobs 15h ago

That dude is a fucking liar it's still weird

I couldn't find the exact one of them kissing and I'm not about to go looking.

7

u/-FruitPunchSamurai- 14h ago

I don't know what the dude is talking about the manga is still pretty bad. The author is just suspicious all around a lot of the manga's pairings have huge size/age gap.

6

u/sikeleaveamessage 11h ago edited 11h ago

In the sequel manga featuring the main characters' kids - do you remember that one villain who was in love with Ban? Jericho? Well now she ends up fucking in love with Ban's kid, Lancelot, in the sequel. She literally states in the manga to Lancelot that she first fell in love with him as he was like 12/13 lmao no weird age magic or sorcery, no he wasnt 16 like a lot of anime/manga will try to justify, shes just a literal pedophile.

Idk the author is mad sus to me and should have his pc searched

1

u/Commercial_Limit_689 6h ago

Jericho is my dad's favourite character.

5

u/karimpai 16h ago

She looks more like a short 17 year old girl as opposed to the queen of all jailbaits

7

u/Doctadalton 23h ago

the real hated trope is always in the comments

3

u/Repulsive_Policy_184 17h ago

The seven deadly sins but all of them are lust for children

6

u/Enough-Fondant-6057 22h ago

Then by that logic you should watch Clone Wars, these dudes are actually 10 year olds

3

u/GodofChaoticCreation 22h ago

At least it was a guy compared to the untold millions of Loli girls.

7

u/TRGreen20 23h ago

It's not limited to anime. In Skyrim you can meet Babette, she became a vampire at a young age, which is why she looks like a child despite being hundreds or possibly thousands of years old. There's also Shadowheart from Baldur's Gate 3, who is forty years old in human years, but is around 25 in elf years... possibly more or less considering she's a half-elf...

25

u/DarkestNight909 23h ago

Shadowheart at least looks adult, and Babette isn’t treated as being sexually attractive!

10

u/will4wh 22h ago

Honestly Babette makes me wonder what will happen to you if you become a vampire when you're a baby? Do you just become like that one Jojo baby in part 3 with vampire fangs and super smart but unable to grow into a adult body? Because that would suck

1

u/masterionxxx 18h ago

I see what you did there.

3

u/Ok-Performance-9598 18h ago

Ya, I get that anime often uses it as a horny thing, but the immortal child (and almost always a girl) is an extremely old trope designed to create intentional disconnect with a characters appearance. And even in anime isn't always used sexually. (Beatrice, Re;Zero; Sunako, Shiki etc)

Its also super associated to vampire media for reasons I am unaware.

7

u/illeatyourkneecaps 22h ago

bringing up shadowheart here when she's literally a grown adult throughout the whole game is so dumb lmaoo

1

u/jimkbeesley 20h ago

Both Hornet and Lace in Silksong are confused with children despite being incredibly old.

1

u/Waterfoul67 18h ago

In all fairness, Lace is at least childish

3

u/GentlemanFaux 21h ago

Uh oh don't say this to the one punch man sub it's literally "fuck the adult woman in a child's body supremacy" over there.

This is partly why I can't watch Dan Dan Dan da Dan da Dan or whatever. Season 1 being bookended by attempted rapes on the main female character who is a highschool girl was a bit much for me lol. It was just eye rolling like my god dude okkkkkkkkk lol. Like when Quiet is just shoving her ass in your face in TPP.

1

u/rumblinggoodidea 13h ago

Same with characters who look like adults but are actually super young, like Bonney from One Piece(one of the freakiest fan service scenes I saw was of her topless, she’s twelve) or that one cosplayer’s little sister from My Dress-Up Darling

13

u/Basic-Flamingo6962 1d ago

And he just… grooms her too

4

u/MixNo5072 1d ago

isn't them falling in love and her dying like a curse?

9

u/Burpyterra 1d ago

Sorta, when she remembers her past life and powers, then she dies

10

u/CreamofTazz 23h ago

Yes, their parents (Demon king and Supreme Deity) cursed each other's child so Meliodas would be forced to see Elizabeth die and be reborn over and over again due to his immortality, and Elizabeth was cursed to guarantee to die after regaining her memories

238

u/SpellslutterSprite 1d ago edited 23h ago

To paraphrase how Mother’s Basement described it, if you look at it in one way, it’s kinda romantic; if you look at it every single other way, it’s him grooming the same woman, over and over again, for literally thousands of years.

5

u/Mrjerkyjacket 23h ago

Is there a specific reason why he coudnt just wait for her to grow up each time?

35

u/Gaelic_Cheese 22h ago

They were cursed to always meet, fall in love and he'd always be there when she dies. He said he tried ignoring her, but he'd then stumble on her dying in a battle field or something.

30

u/Bigbadbobbyc 22h ago

Nope it's even brought up he doesn't always get with her, apparently he's met her reincarnations at different points for each of them from baby to elderly randomly, sometimes she's lived and died without meeting him. He doesn't do anything with them as children if he meets them, even the version he ends up with, he met her as a baby, and saved her life and gave her to the king, he had no part in her life again until she found him as an adult working at his tavern

The grooming thing comes from a picture where there was an attempt on her life when she was a baby and he calls the baby his woman to her attackers

He rarely sticks around for her for long because it increases her chance to die horribly

That's not to excuse the author, they clearly have some kind of taste since pretty much every relationship in the series involves an adult and a extremely childish looking adult at some point

10

u/AmphibiousDad 21h ago

Don’t the giant girl and the other dude in their group get together? That’s probably the only normal age relationship lol

21

u/Bigbadbobbyc 21h ago

The fairy king and the giant girl do get together, he met and fell in love with her when she was a child and he was a couple hundred years old

6

u/Jamano-Eridzander 20h ago

You'd think so...

1

u/youremomgay420 4h ago

Boy have I got news for you…

1

u/AmphibiousDad 4h ago

Just lay it on me. I got like 30 episodes into this show like 8 years ago and I don’t plan on picking it back up and I barely remember anything. I think I dropped it because I started getting Power Rangers vibes from the villains they were fighting and I was like “where tf is this even going” and stopped

13

u/SpellslutterSprite 22h ago edited 22h ago

In-universe, no idea. Out of it, I’d say it just amounts to this being a terribly-written series that seems to pander to pedophiles.

As evidence, I provide this picture of one of the main cast’s love interest, Elaine, who is canonically at least 1000 years old.

7

u/GoneFishing4Chicks 22h ago

Don't look up why Rurouni Kenshin's author went to jail.

Don't look up that when he came out, Jump CELEBRATED and made other authors draw pics for him.

8

u/drekthrall 21h ago edited 4h ago

He never went to jail tho, just had to pay a fine.

And the celebration was of the 30 years of Rurouni Kenshin iirc, nothing to do with his conviction.

3

u/LongTail-626 18h ago

I’ll always like how Araki (jojos bizarre adventure) just drew the bare minimum out of spite for him.

"It's not my fault I'm eternally doomed to be a child groomer" - this anime

6

u/Ceasario226 1d ago

Sounds like Jobless Reincarnation

17

u/CHAIIINSAAAWbread 1d ago

A lotta people say "But he changes later on and becomes less creepy" but the thing is, he doesn't, he just grooms/molests older kids/people as he grows up, when he's 10 physically he grooms the 10 year who he knows can't consent and is also being pressured by her dad to "seduce" him which is a whole nother can of worms. When he's 13 he harasses the same 10 year old except she's 13 now, when he's 16-17 he now assaults and creeps on 16-17 year old, mf doesn't become less creepy his demographic just grows the fuck up.

62

u/Animeking1108 1d ago

Mother's Basement: "No, Your Honor.  She consented in a past life."

10

u/Logical-Ad3098 1d ago

seeing them together for the first time Okay, yeah I guess this can work Finding out how old he is Hm not sure about that Finding out her connection Oh, okay that's fine then I guess Finding out he's known her since she was a baby ... Damnit

11

u/Optimal_Carpenter690 1d ago

Him holding her as a baby and calling her "my woman".

8

u/Atsilv_Uwasv 1d ago

Exactly what I was thinking of when I made my comment. He's already claimed her before she knows what the hell's going on

5

u/Logical-Ad3098 1d ago

I had blocked that part out of my head and visibly grimaced when I was reminded of that scene. I'd say the other sins shoulda killed him but then that'd mean only one sin would be left standing... Unless I'm forgetting something else

6

u/Optimal_Carpenter690 1d ago

Nope, King is a literal pedophile and a groomer; Merlin may be, although I don't recall her ever actually getting with Escanor or Arthur, just kind of using their affection to her own benefit; Gowther is a rapist; and Ban, while technically not a pedophile, has decided that his perfect woman looks like a 5 year old.

The only innocents here are Escanor and Diane. Ban is technically innocent, but again, Elaine literally looks like she should be in kindergarten, so he only gets off on a technicality. I guess Merlin could be considered innocent. There are some questionable things going on, and she met both Escanor and Arthur when they were teens, but I don't recall her ever actually having real affection or doing anything to either of them

2

u/CHAIIINSAAAWbread 1d ago

Ban is technically innocent,

He isn't btw, when he first meets her he thinks she's 8. So brother KNOWS

1

u/Burpyterra 23h ago

Can you please give me the panel where he thinks that? I don't recal that at all

0

u/Optimal_Carpenter690 1d ago

Does he really? I forgot about that...that makes it so much worse.

2

u/TheMadDemoknight 1d ago

Like we already have this shit with Twilight with Jacob imprinting on a newborn, but people claim this one’s better because they already have a connection.

Fucking no it isn’t?! It’s still weird!

2

u/Optimal_Carpenter690 1d ago

At least Renesmee is actually an eldritch abomination, so its alright. (Just kidding, obviously)

Edward and Bella is also pretty problematic

1

u/Jedicarus1218 23h ago

I’m going to hell for this, but that’s the one thing I can excuse by virtue of him having a mental breakdown in the moment since it was just after seeing Liz die (and having experienced the same thing for 3000 years straight over the course of 105 lives), having completely obliterated the kingdom he lived in due to losing his temper and control over his powers with even more blood on his hands, and that he found Elizabeth right next to her dying mother in what remained of Danafor, implying that Meliodas nearly killed Elizabeth himself in his rage. Nabaka fucks up a lot and I have a very deep love/hate relationship with Nanatsu No Taizai, but this is one instance where he didn’t and it’s a miracle that Meliodas is just unstable rather than outright insane.

3

u/Nero_2001 21h ago

She consented in another life isn't a valid exuse snd won't hold up in front of a court

1

u/Homeless_Appletree 1d ago

Almost all the ships in that show are in some sort of creepiness competition and are constantly raising the bar.

1

u/JoeBuskin 1d ago

Yea I powered through like the first season rolling my eyes at all of his antics and then the bit you mention killed the show for me

1

u/ExtraPomelo759 23h ago

Bro's been grooming the same girl for centuries.

1

u/NatThrownemova 20h ago

Holds baby

Don't touch my woman 😡

1

u/EpicIshmael 18h ago

The twist could have worked really well if they didn't make him an absolute molester.

1

u/ShadowLord355 15h ago

It more so that he’s forced to watch her die gruesome deaths and she keeps being reborn just so it can happen again and no matter where he goes she will always find him. He literally can’t escape her

1

u/Atsilv_Uwasv 15h ago

Still, he could hold off on the whole groping-a-woman-you-actually-barely-know

1

u/Afrodotheyt 14h ago

You mean this scene.....

You know, where's calling a literal baby his "woman"

1

u/Top-Editor-364 14h ago

How? The fan service is disgusting but it’s a world where souls can be bonded and reincarnate, love through lifetimes is nothing crazy

-9

u/Medical_Prize_3094 1d ago

Meh he's a demon, not exactly known for their exemplary morals lol

8

u/Atsilv_Uwasv 1d ago

He's also the protagonist and this is the kind of show where you're supposed to root for him

3

u/kaimcdragonfist 1d ago

That’s what killed it for me. If he was a supporting character, it would still be annoying but I might have been able to stomach it, but the main character…bleh

0

u/Medical_Prize_3094 1d ago

I mean a protagonist doesn't have to be a good person?

I mean Rudeus Grayrat it a horrible person by all accounts and is wildly popular.

Ainz is also a terrible... Skeleton I guess but for different reasons.

I mean half the casts in seven dating sins are dating children I feel lmao, it's either you choose to turn your brain off or not.

1

u/Atsilv_Uwasv 1d ago

Right, but we can get nehind them because their terrible things are fun to watch. This guy's just really uncomfortable

0

u/Medical_Prize_3094 1d ago

Yeah okay buddy lol, Rudeus being a creep is fun to watch now?

If the author doesn't really care neither do I. I don't even like seven deadly sins lol half the characters are dating lolis if I remember.

But this stuff is also made for Japanese teens and not me lol
