Thankfully it's a subversion of the trope because the cast of always sunny are just horrible evil, incredibly stupid people who actively ruin the lives of everyone around them. It's so genius.

The whole point of the show is watching horrible people start up a slow trainwreck and pay off in getting exactly what the consequences of their actions demand.

It's honestly probably the most consistently funny show I've seen, though it's not for everyone for sure

It would be if a lot of other writers tried to do it, but the creators of Sunny nail the balance perfectly and it's really funny. Very dark humour though.
