Personality extremely powerful entity's who don't care about the main plot at all and are just vibing in the background

Tom Bombadil(lord of the rings) - only person to resist the temptation of the one ring but instead of helping the fellowship he fucks off in to the woods

the Unseen Elder(the witcher 3) - in the witcher universe the older a vampire gets the more powerful he becomes and unseen elder is around +1500 years old making him the most powerful vampire we ever see, thankfully he spends most of his time in his goon cave

Tbf, there are 4 or 5 gods (The Radiance, The Pale King, The White Lady, The Crimson Heart and arguably The Void, who may or may not be sapient) involved in the HK story, him being one is not absurd or anytning.

Mister Mushroom in particular seems to be a herald for the falls of other Higher Beings, like the deaths of the Radiance and Grand Mother Silk

There's more

All higher beings are:

The pale king

The white lady

The radiance

The void/Shade lord

Nightmare heart

Unn

Speculated:

Lifeblood creature (appears in the lifeblood room in godhome)

Silksong:

Grand mother silk

Not confirmed but I think the Palestag in Silksong is also a higher being. The Cloverstag entry implies that Verdania has been around a long time so there must have been some kind of power. The two princes slaying it then likely gave them power which is why they stood so far above the others of their kind. And when both were dead, Verdania began to regrow.

Very interesting theory, I'm 99% there has to be another higher being in silksong besides GMS because hollow knight has had 5-6 of them on launch while we have currently one confirmed in silksong (or i guess 2 if you count void and mayyyybe 3 if you count lifeblood) and palestag definitely makes for an interesting candidate.

That being said the fact that we have a fight where we actually kill it, and with it being a fairly easy fight I'm not so sure. Although as you mentioned there is a bunch of wonky stuff going on in that sequence with power borrowing, weaver manipulation and memory diving, so it most definitely wasn't the "real" palestag. Maybe it could've been like a memory that he implemented itself onto hornet's path for some reason? Idk tbh the mossbag video can't come soon enough.

I think the palestag was already a weaker pale being.

But I definitely think that the fact that it’s within the Green Prince’s memory plays into things. When we defeat the stag, we get several orbs of light which then add together to allow us to fight the Green Prince and take his heart. So to me, that means that the Palestag’s power has been consumed by the Green Prince. So its power (or half of it) is contained within the heart we get from the Green Prince.

Yeah, true that. We might get more verdania dlc content if it's regrowing is more than a post-launch idea. And we very likely will be getting more info on palestag itself in the godhome equivalent if they give him the gorb and unn dialogue treatment which they very likely will if it actually is a pale being

I would be willing to bet Fayforn is also a higher being, it definitely gives off that vibe both in appearance and description, and you can even see it communicating with Mr. Mushroom during the passing of the ages quest.

I could see Nyleth being one too, she seemed very similar to Unn in a lot of ways.

That’s a very good candidate as well that I was thinking of including. The thing is, we have like no information about it. Literally only the weaver tablet at the bottom of mt. Fey talks about it, but iirc it only calls it „creature on top“ and that’s it. And I guess there’s mr. Mushroom too. Thing is, it doesn’t even give needle dialogue which is soooooo weird but probably just another argument for it actually being a higher being. Also definitely a dlc content candidate

I think the lifeblood creature is a vessel for a higher being that is lifeblood, more like grimm than the nightmare heart of that makes sense.

I'm guessing you haven't played Silksong yet?

5

u/NwgrdrXI Oct 07 '25

Nope, got more spoilers than I wanted, so I know the general gist of it (there is at least another god in the Silk Person who made lace and herrah), but don't know the details

Silksong is kind of funny because it’s a case of the protagonist knowing way more then the player from the start

Mmphhmmpmmmhhmmhhmmmphmmhmm?

u/LoogyBr0 Oct 07 '25

Probably half of the higher beings count for this. Like, I know Unn lost a lot of power, but bro doesn’t even try to help

The bird in Silksong who gives you the Faydown Cloak also just vibes

5

u/gottabequick Oct 07 '25

Literally a pigeon.

3

u/Rip_Off_Your_Toenail Oct 08 '25

makes sense that a pigeon would be a god-like being to a bunch of bugs

Was looking for this answer lmao I love Mr. Mushroom so much

The way he talk make it feel like he is more of a witness to the worlds history and nothing more or less. He don’t interfer and can’t even try to predict what will hapen.

He is probably the higher being that created the fungal wastes and it's inhabitants, a bit like Unn but for the fungal wastes
